This morning as I was sitting here checking emails I heard thunder rumbling and went out to the yard to check out the dark clouds. While out there I checked on the chickens and found the hens had already this morning laid three nice eggs and immediately decided to have a little breakfast. The eggs were still warm from being laid.

Sunny side up was my choice for today and I decided to have a couple of ABT's(cheese mixture stuffed jalapeno peppers wrapped in bacon)instead of frying up bacon. Besides I was in the mood for good savory and spicy this morning.

Opps... No pics of them cooking and apparently my son made a midnight snack of the leftover abt's from last night so just toast and gees it would be. The toast was again Rosemary & Sea Salt bread with butter and garlic pepper jelly which was REALLY quite savory, sweet and delicious.

That REALLY did stop being funny after the frist time it was said and it was weak at best then.

Gris, no I didn't make this one but I have made pepper jelly in the past.
This was New Orleans Jelly and Spice Co.'s Garlic Pepper Jelly. Good stuff!

I'm all about these simple cooking threads!

These days I focus so much on trying new and flashy things to cook that I often forget about the things that Mom and dad fixed for us as a kid. I absolutely love getting reminded of those things.... Sure wish I had a yard full of chickens like we did when I was a kid. Just seeing the pics took me back and I can almost taste it.

Nothing like a fish farm yard egg with that thick high rise yellow yoke. That'll put some hair on ya chest.

Before reading this post, I had no idea that the hit and run rate in New Orleans was that high.

There aren't many joys in life better than dipping toast into runny egg yolk.

Lol..... I guess I need to keep clothed at all times just in case you can catch a glimpse in a reflection somewhere in a picture.

That doesn't even hold a candle to the microwaved steak quips.

You just reminded me about pepper jelly. Thank you. I am so obsessed with the stuff that it's disturbing. I think I'll purchase some today when I go shop for dinner stuff later.

Cochon in Nawlins does a killer pepper jelly on their chicken livers.

If you can get your hands on some eggs laid by Ameraucana hens then buy them. The shells are blue and the eggs are even better than those from a Rhode Island Red or Buff Orpington.

I bought some of this today at Fresh Market and made a hot turkey sandwich out of it. Holy ... God. Can't believe I'm just now discovering this bread.
