D-Day Roberts

quote:

Brian Roberts played last season for the New Orleans Pelicans as a backup point guard and he is doing everything he can to keep his spot on the roster heading into 2013-14, which included playing for the Pelicans summer team in Las Vegas. Roberts believes he has shown enough to stay with the team.

"I thought I played pretty well," Roberts told The Times-Picayune. "There were times when I didn’t play as well as I wanted to, but overall I thought I gave the effort when I was out there. Mainly, I wanted to show that I could run the team and get guys in the right positions."

Roberts won't have to wait on his future as his $788,972 salary for 2013-14 becomes fully guaranteed if he's not released by 5 pm eastern on Saturday.

Does anyone know if he made the team?

I have to say that I think Roberts looked pretty good for the most part last year. I'm not suggesting that we should keep him this season, but the guy worked hard and played well as back up guard.

He's what, 28? Dude jumper is becoming pretty consistent. He has a year of experience and only will have to be a 3rd primary ball handler now with Tyreke.

i just feel like we're so guard heavy with jrue, eg, evans, and rivers that we won't get him enough minutes. we probably can, I like him, but he's 28 and I rather him get a chance to get more minutes elsewhere than so deep on our depth chart. he's our only other true PG though

I'd play Jrue, Rivers, and Evans at PG over him. He's not needed.
