Anyone ever listening to this outdoor show? Used to listen with my dad all the time on early morning road trips to go hunting or fishing. Had no idea he was still on and on ESPN radio

Well, you get down your fiddle and you get down your bow...

Nothing better than hearing this on a Saturday morning. Means you're going fishing!

I used to pick up Don's show here in South Carolina on a crazy radio I used to have. Hell, I could pick up Chicago stations on that damn thing. Wish I could remember where I put it. Don's show was awesome!

In my former career, I was interviewed by Don a number of times. He always asked thoughtful questions and really had a broad understanding of envirnmental issues in LA. I am impressed that he has been on the air so long (over 20 years). I try to catch him when I can.

No, If planning on fishing the radio is never on. If the TV is on it will be checking the radar only.
I've heard him a few times we've awakened only to be rained out though, seems OK.

If by "crazy radio" do you mean an "AM radio"? WWL and a lot of other stations can boost their signal after sundown, so it is not unusual to pick up broadcasts from WWL across the country. I used to do it all the time in Charlotte.

Clear-channel stations

I once watched Don's GSP fetch up an entire coop of chickens and deliver to hand while we were visiting with the land owner/chicken owner where we were dove hunting. The land owner had no idea and Don couldn't keep his dog from retrieving, it was hilarious.

I listen to his show when I can, normally in the blind while it's on though.
