Even if the poison pill made the cap hit outrageous like $22 million, it wouldn't be until like the 3rd year of the deal when that kicked in. The first couple of years it would be pretty affordable for them.

Probably throw Miami Roberts for LBJ, poison pull George, Darius Miller for Melo, throw Lance Thomas for Howard (even though I hate him). Probably moves we'll see next year.

Listen carefully. There will be no poison pill. There will be no Paul George free agency. Indiana is going to offer him 5 years/$80M. He's going to accept it. You're going to stop starting shitty threads.

I never said any of that. I just said we could swing a deal for George. It is entirely possible since the Pacers will be cap strapped.

George will explore his options first. A team like the Pelicans will offer him more money with the poison pill. Do some research before you comment.

He's either trolling like a motherfricker or he doesn't really know how the poison pill works.

I do. It increases the salary for the team who has to match the offer but not for the team who offers it. Add in the fact that they will be luxary tax territory. Not a chance they match.

If he isn't serious then he is a pretty damn good troll.

You are just being pessimistic. The Pelicans is a prime FA destination with all our new young talent. George will give a good, hard look.

Benson is very wealthy and will shell out the money for a player like George. To say we don't have the money for a poison pill contract is absurd.

Let's all ignore the fact that the Pels have a higher team salary on the books than the Pacers do. Larry Bird has said they will match any offer, ignore that too. Also, please ignore the fact that George is 23 yrs old and a budding superstar, because if the Pels really wanted him,EG and JSmith would easily get the sign and trade done.

The Gilbert Arenas provision (aka the poison pill) only applies to 2nd round draft picks or undrafted players after their first or second year in the league. Paul George fits neither of those criteria. Indiana isn't restricted in any way with the way they structure his new contract.
