We were at a buddys pond. South of shreveport. We were running late and just caught the tail end of the morning feeding frenzy. Still caught a whole mess of fish though.

Good stuff! My 2 kids love fishing too.

Did ya guys catch and release or did ya get some of those little bite sized filets of heaven off of those fish?

They can be a pain to mess with but I absolutely love frying up a batch of blue gill bite sized filets.

My kids are 2 and 3 years old and the practice with their rods pretty much every morning for 30 minutes or so in the living room. My little dude has a superman pole and my little girl has the light up Barbie pole. I keep a little plastic elephant and rhino tied on the end of each so the can throw and reel in safely in the house.

When we go fishing they at least have the basics down but the excitement and anticipation still takes over and seems to cripple their ability.

We released them all. I'm the only one in the house that likes to eat fish and even that is a rare occasion. It's easier to run up to Sams Eatery and get a plate full of fillets than mess with cooking them myself. They recently graduated from the spongebob fishing poles to the zebco 202 combos. They are still learning how to cast the big rod and reels.

Awesome! Scale them and cut off head and fry those babies whole. Teach them how to eat the crunchy tail and they may appreciate eating something that they caught more. I have two children (21 and 17) and they loved fishing from the start. Most of our family pics are in a boat and have some great early age hoist pics for both. Enjoy every outing and take them as often as you can cause the time goes by very fast!

You're telling me. I cant believe they are already 7 and 5. It seems like yesterday that they were born.
