Modified (wont come out of barrel)
Stock
Browning Silver
Federal Blue Box
Yes (& with most other brands)
All Federal patterned better out of my gun than Winchester & Remington. Kent also patterned good. Didn't see any difference between Federal blue box, red box, or black cloud. To me the biggest difference between blue box and red box is that blue box are a little dirtier (though I'm suspicious that beginning last year Federal stream lined a lot of their shot shell components and there isn't much, if any difference in the blue and red. Shells weren't anywhere close to being as dirty as they used to be). Black cloud will destroy a duck, but I go through 2.5-3 cases a season so it would be pretty expensive. Blue box cost $100/case shipped from Rogers. Also, if I could get the modified out of my barrel, I would replace it with an improved. If you're shooting ducks where you're supposed to - 10-20 yards in the face with feet down - it's a much better option.

Don't.
It's not worth the money unless you're a buckshot hunter

This. Find a shell that reliably goes bang, cycles through your gun, and can be found readily. A lot of pattern "issues" are really poor shooting. At least that's always my excuse.

Browning Maxus 12 gauge
Patternmaster Code Black Goose
2-T
OR
Browning BPS 10 gauge
Patternmaster Extended Range
2-T
I've never patterned either of these setups but judging by what the ducks say I know it's real tight and decent pattern at worst.
Fwiw it's the same choke but the code black goose has a special coating. Code black duck is the long range.

I need to get a pattern master for mine.
Mine was slightly egg shaped from excessive shooting. Sent it back they gave me a new one. It says not to shoot real heavy or fast loads. Browning 10 ga.
The new one had a much better pattern. I think it opened up over the years.

They say not shoot anything over 1550 through them.
It's difficult to find shells advertised as slower than that these days.

Picked up a Kicks Mod for my SBEII. Ready to see what kind of pattern it slings.
Should I go pick up the full as well? Majority of our birds decoy but I'd like that extra stretch for those odd days and for my early morning woodies.

Super X2
Win Experts 3.5" #2
Haydel's decoy choke and extended range
I really like the Haydel's. Priced right to at $69 last I checked.

I've heard those are some high performing waterfowl loads. I wouldn't know of course. Just what I heard and stuff.

Beretta urika IIs
Extended factory IM or M
3” shells
Hevisteel #3s – stuff is deadly on late season birds
Kent fast steel #3s for ducks – BB or BBB for Canada geese
Nitro faststeel – haven’t shot this at ducks but BBs whacked Canadas
Tried blackcloud and was disappointed. Not worth teh $ for me.
Back in the day in LA we shot Estate 1500 fps 3” shells (2’s thru 4’s) and shot them from a variety of guns (rems 1187s 1100s 870s, moss pump, A5 – a variety of chokes from IC to M). They went bang and birds fell.
As my Dad always said it aint the arrow it’s the Indian – so you gotta get out and practice
Waaayyy back in the day 3" #2 lead was deadly on 50+yd greenheads

I hunt with a Franchi, with benelli aftermarket passing choke, 3" #3s usually
Looking to get a longer range choke. Any preference toward the patternmaster or the Kick's? or do I need a new thread/

I have had the extended range ported patternmaster for a few years. I can reach out and touch some high flying geese with it. Kicks are great chokes too, and Haydels have been getting some love lately, not to mention a great price.

Your blindmates will not be too happy w a ported choke ........ They are a little loud - I would avoid them to keep the peace. Giddy up if u hunt alone
