Pretty cool. I disagree with B/R's never ending opinion that our franchise won't have any expectations for the next decade. But I do agree that next to SAS and Miami, we are the best destination

@ESPNSteinLine: New post on @TrueHoop: Sources say Pelicans getting good look from Greg Oden alongside Heat, Spurs and Mavs: LINK

I've liked him for a long time. Good guy. Potentially great player. Such a low risk with such a potentially high reward. I just really hope we can get him

I agree 100% we don't lose anything we can only gain

IMO, if the Pelicans land Greg Oden with a 2-year deal, we could be anywhere between a 35 and 50 win team for each of the next two seasons.
We don't know how the new roster is going to mesh, but assuming Gordon plays at least 60 games the next two seasons (I know, big assumption), the Pelicans could have one of the best backcourts in the NBA. That's if Gordon, Evans, and Jrue can click and work as a fluid unit.
Regardless of how the backcourt pans out, we know Anthony Davis will continue to improve his game, and as he adds weight he will become a force to recon with. And if somehow, someway, Greg Oden's knees hold up and he puts in a solid 20 mpg for the Pelicans, they have a chance to be something special.
Lots of "if's", tons of ways these next two years could pan out (new roster is somewhat built around potential), but there is a chance that the Pelicans could be a scary team to face come playoff time the next two seasons. I'm pulling for us to take a chance on the guy.
We know there's a good chance that he won't provide steady minutes over the season, but that slim possibility that he might still have some left in the tank really excites me. I'm all in for giving him a shot, barring a thorough physical and workout (a given..).
ETA: I also think the same can be said if we don't add Oden, but I think our ceiling is probably a little lower than 50 for the next two seasons without him. Also think flipping Gordon for a big-time SF after this season could raise our ceiling as well, just not sure who is the best fit. Granger is getting older, is coming back from surgery, and although he's a great shooter, he doesn't see the court very well. Just my two cents.

Oden is broke down and worth no more than the vet minimum at this point.
Oh, and citing Bleacher Report is worse than wikipedia.

Sorry, it's early. I somewhat separated my thoughts with my edit. Also, here's another link on Oden and Pelicans.

For him, it really needs to be all about the money. This is probably going to be his last NBA contract unless he gets two knee transplants, so he needs to squeeze out every dollar he can.

It's pretty hilarious how mad you get over this. I shudder to think what you will do to yourself if he ends up signing.
