I didn't discuss the case with many people but the few that I have: (paraphrasing)
Baby Boomer Jewish couple from Jersey: Zimmerman probably faked the injuries and should've been guilty of murder.
30 year old white guy at work (professional): you can't get a murder charge when somebody attacks you
I work in some really shitty areas in Riviera Beach but haven't seen any kinds of mass gatherings or anything like that and I've been out a lot the past few days.
I honestly think most rationale people feel that Zimmerman probably was overzealous but it was a form of self defense and that there is no way to convict what he was being charged with.
The local news has probably been a bit slanted to the Martin side of it but not like Piers Morgan/Nancy Grace level or anything like that.
Probably a lot more attention back up around St. Aug south toward Volusia county and then inland.
