I like his long, rangy frame. Plus, if the staff likes him, that's good enough for me

If our coaching staff likes this kid enough for just coming in and competing against arguably the best of the best and earning an offer by his performance, I hope he is our next commit.

There is something special about a relatively unknown recruit coming into a high profile camp and earning a scholarship. Wish it happened more often.

So this kid has a great day against the all world WRs at camp and you think he shouldn't get an offer?

This. These kids grow. They develop. Recruiting sites can't always keep up. With the DB offers that we have out there, I know that this kid had to have absolutely kicked butt today.

not trying to start shite, but why didn't he commit on the spot. a guy from la. with no offers gets a LSU offer and has to think about it. camp offers to la. kids are usually commitable.

I think this also means they are only taking 2 LBs this class with the possibility of Hootie being a hybrid S/LB.

I would imagine he'd like to discuss it with his family.

Some Shreveport Recruitniks have been anticipating this for awhile. That once he made one of these big camps he would show out versus top talent. This has been said since just before Rhaheed decommitted.

ETA: I don't know this kid from Adam, but I'm pretty sure Jones and Brown should be higher priority.

Sorry dude. He took Tony Brown's spot. Better luck next year.

I wonder if this is some sort of "conditional offer" IF there ends up being room. Perhaps I should create the term "scholarship in waiting". His video highlights look OK to me but nothing special. Remember on all these guys, these are HIGHLIGHTS! And I can't even remember the last kid from Captain Shreve that played Division 1-A football.

If we sign this kid, every time I read his name it will remind me of the Simpson's episode when Bart gets a credit card in the name of the dog. Only, instead of it saying Santa's Little Helper, it says Santos L Halper.

This. He went from thinking Houston and Tech might be his best offers to now one of the best schools in the country and the best in his home state. Also like someone else said piggyback offers are sure to come.

Oh, OK, in that case, he is a take! I will guess he might make a better CB than a safety...pretty light for a safety (even acknowledging a couple of good hits in the clip). The best play I remember is the INT running out of the back of the end zone!

What I was told was he has all the things you can't coach height/length, solid tackling, hips, and versatility with his frame.

Actually, this SUPPOSED offer surprises me more than the PK one. LSU has 1 scholarship kicker, a junior, who has yet to attempt 1 FG. Of course Gamble won't help in 2013, but other than this being a loaded year, can't be shocked that a PK was offered. It HAD to be either this year or next year for sure.

Yeah, I'm sure the staff had never heard of him before they offered today.
