What are the odds that Gregg Doyel didn't bother to do any investigation as to what other people in Baton Rouge have been punished with for the same crimes?
This. I also heard Tony Barnhart on the radio this morning and he was not taking the stance of Hill should be immediately kicked off the team, but he was going on and on about how judge's don't like their probation being violated and how it is likely Hill will go to jail for violating the probation. Of course, he has nothing to support this other than the way he thinks the legal system works.
I'm not commenting one way or another on Hill's actions. However, the people who are looking at the legal aspects from the outside don't understand how many factors are involved in sentencing, probation revocation, etc. Hill won't go to jail because you simply don't send someone to jail for violating misdemeanor probation with another misdemeanor that occurred over 2 years after the first misdemeanor (Fall 2010 to Spring 2013). They don't have the jail space and it isn't worth the state's money.
Additionally, the likes of Doyel pick and choose their facts, disregard factors in the case that mitigate the crime (at least in the prosecutor's ability to bring a case on a more serious charge), and take great liberty with assumptions and moral character. To a certain extent, Hill deserves much of that article (not the predator part) as does Miles, to a lesser extent. However, he crossed a major line when he went after the judges when there is nothing at all to indicate that they lack moral character or are persuaded by their alma mater. I assume 75% of the judges in this state are LSU grads.

Cecil Collins any one???
What is that supposed to mean? Cecil Collins was absolutely a sexual deviant. Hopefully, he isn't any longer since he is getting out of jail. He broke into 2 separate apartments and fondled sleeping girls. He did it again in Miami. That is just what we know about. Other than Hill's bj 3 years ago, I'm failing to connect the dots. Hill was wrong in the fight, but it doesn't get anywhere near Cecil Collins level.

But this being Louisiana, and Jeremy Hill being a football star, who knows?

Recruit quality kids and you get quality results. See Alabama. That's why Saban is the best - just saying.
So because Tuscaloosa police don't arrest Bama players he is recruiting "quality kids"? Really? How many times in the past 4 years have we heard about Bama players being arrested within months of leaving school?

You don't even have to look that hard. Bama had a few guys arrested a few months ago for going around campus at night and jumping kids for laptops and stealing their credit cards. Not just scrubs either.

I’m not sure where to start. I think it’s beyond unfair to lump Coach Miles in with Urban Meyer and every other "win at all costs” coach in history. Coach Miles has released star players before. Most notably, Tyrann Mathieu before last season and Ryan Perrilloux back in 2008 (not to mention suspending starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson for four games at the start of the 2011 season because of a bar fight). In both instances, disappointing football seasons (by LSU’s standards anyway) followed. LSU went 8-5 in 2008 and 10-3 last year after being ranked as hight as #1 in the preseason by some media outlets. Miles knew, just like every fan, sports writer and commentator knew, that cutting those guys loose would have immediate adverse consequences on the entire team (including the kids who were behaving themselves) and he did it anyway because it was the right thing to do. As for Mathieu failing several drug tests before being let go, I don’t think keeping him around was all about winning. I think Coach Miles and LSU did their best to try and make sure that Mathieu didn’t end up like his father, a great athlete who ruined his own life because he couldn’t stay out of trouble. Mathieu has said on numerous occasions that LSU did everything they could to help him and I don’t get the sense that that was all about keeping him eligible. Don’t get me wrong, when you watch the Hill video, it’s hard to argue that he shouldn’t be suspended and, just as with Mathieu and Perrilloux, I wouldn’t be mad at Coach Miles or LSU if they let him go. But I hate the idea that if they don’t let him go, its only because they want to win. There’s no allowance whatsoever for the fact that maybe, just maybe, LSU and Miles actually give a damn about saving this guy from himself. Just my two cents.

Why hasn't Doyle written a column about all of rest of the SEC players who have had an arrest.
I am assuming this has been posted before

Also, does this guy not know that probably 95 percent of the lawyers in Baton Rouge went to either Southern or LSU for law school and probably a third of Southern Law students went to LSU for undergrad? You'd have to send the kid to another state if you wanted to find a judge with no LSU connection. Just because a connection exists does not mean that the judge in question can't be fair and impartial.

Doyel is a very, very light weight. And not especially smart.

I've learned 2 things in this tread. Doyle is a horible writer and if he wants to write crap like this, he should make a trip to every major college and write at least one "story" about every player that has gotten arrested. It's weak shite, Hill snuck someone at a bar in college, move on losers.
And the second thing that i learned is i never want to party with Lester Earl. I'm a man, i'm 30. My time at 30 seems much cooler than what you were probably doing at 20. Grow up, he didn't break the guys face or anything. There is no long term damage to the "victim", if he is not being a big pussy, why must every nega-tiger and virgin CBS writer. Geaux Tigers! Looking forward to watching Hill & the gang "sneak" by everyone on the field this year.

Typical bull shite trying to get readers.
Are there any extenuating circumstances that would preclude the judge from revoking Hill's probation?
Hill looks like a 4th round pick in the NFL next year.

Does the writer not know about Ryan Perilloux, and TM7 being booted off the team? Miles will get rid of you if you don't get your shite together.

or talk a 14 year old into blowing me when i was adult. Well, because Im not that desperate nor am I into taking advantage of people.
So Yea, I guess I am a party pooper.
