Trading a Glock for a M&P Shield

My wife has a G26 that she hates the grip on, they are too thick for her little hands. She has shot the Shield and likes the grip. I am wanting to trade the G26 for a shield. My question is: Should I ask for boot when trading for the Shield? Not sure if I should do an even trade. Please let me know if you would ask for boot or just maybe some ammo with swap.

I'd sell the G26 in a private sale, honestly. You'll get robbed in any trade situation with a retailer.

Yeah I'm going to try to avoid trading with a retailer, they want to give you $250 for a $550 gun. I am looking to do more of a private trade if I don't sell it outright.

I got you - and you're looking for what to ask for in a swap? It's close to an even swap, if both weapons are like new - maybe ammo or a cheap holster or something.
The number of mags might be an issue, too - if you're giving 3 mags and only getting 2 for example, you might want to ask them to sweeten the pot with more ammo or accessories, depending on if they have them.

It depends on the condition of each pistol. If you have a couple hundred through your Glock, it's going to be considered to be the same as any old police trade-in. M&P Shields have much higher resale value since they have greater demand.
But I do agree that you're smarter to go through a private seller than a dealer.
