Why has Hootie soured on us so quickly? Must not like our DB depth.

What leads you to believe he's soured on us. Last time I checked Memphis has him going to the camp so we'll have to see who is right, Duckie or Memphis.

I believe he is just exploring his options....he knows how pathetic our offense has looked in the past and just wants to see how different it will look under Cam...honestly, I don't blame him...

I believe the new offense will be a total 180 from what we normally look like and alot of high rated offensive players will be intrigued by it. With that being said, I think we land Speedy!

No one should even question Speedy on this. Lol. A guy who was very similar to Speedy except that he couldn't catch just had a 4 year career of being basically invisible in our offense. IMO the dude's all-LSU, but he also wants to be utilized properly. That isn't asking too much. Like Cousin and a few others have said, after he sees what Cam does with the offense he'll be all ours. Can't blame the guy for wanting to see what offense he'd be playing in if he were to come to LSU. Be patient.

There was a tad more difference to Shepard than just his hands. Shepard had straight line speed for sure but I was surprised he wasn't more shifty and couldn't avoid tackles more. From the highlights of Noil, that guy has moves to avoid tackles even when trapped. Also, I don't know Noil well enough to judge "student of the game", but Shepard simply never was. I'm not questioning his intelligence...I am saying it has been years and years since I saw an LSU player who clearly had problems lining up properly and knowing his assignments on plays. Simple as that.

If there was one guy in the class that If they went somewhere else I honestly wouldn't be upset, it's speedy and to a lower extent Harris. . Our offense has been a horror show for almost 4 years. I think brazil will turn the trend with the new coordinator. Can't blame the guy for being skeptical right now.

And you can bet your arse brazil and Jennings will be showcased for that exact reason this year. Its all about recruiting, 24/7 365 days a year. I can't think of any legitimate reason for any other in state kid (sims maybe, just to many wr's) to pick another school. No other school can offer more then us right now. Other then, they just "want to get out of here".

Ironically, the poor passing game has cut both ways. IMO, it clearly has helped recruit QB to LSU BIG TIME! It is the old, "that's your starter?...sign me up right now!" On the receiver side, it has been "but who is going to throw the ball that doesn't bounce in front of me (Jefferson) or sail 3 yards past me arms (Mettenberger)? The offset to the receiver deal is that LSU is STILL putting WRers into the pros so it obviously isn't hurting too much as far as their career goes. Randall is a recent guy...Beckham and Landry are supposed to opt for the draft and be drafted.

I agree with your assessment. RS is the only former Tiger that I could think of to even remotely compare to Speedy. Speedy could definitely be a Percy Harvin type playmaker if we utilize him properly.

Yeah, Percy Harvin was a stouter guy I think but I don't think he is as quick as Noil is..."quickness", I'm talking about, not flat out speed. I guess RS got off on the wrong foot with me, but in his TR FR year, you probably remember this. He would come in to the huddle and either a timeout would have to be called or when the lining up came, a timeout would have to be called. You KNEW it was Shepard because after the timeout, the QB would go over to Shepard and start talking.

I was almost to the point of "Les, please post the playbook on the video screen. yeah, I know the opponents will see the play also but at least we won't waste timeout after timeout." There was no excuse for even a TR FR with limited usage in plays NOT to know the playbook. NONE!

Jimmy Smith has a bright future in the profession. He has a terrific football mind and is a talented, informed writer. I think LSU should "leak" info to him more than anyone. Maybe some of these other guys, who want to write inaccurate drama, should be shut off from LSU's real business. And we as readers should do the same.
Ever wonder why these DFW writers dont continually write negative articles about Jerry Jones and the Cowboys? There is certainly a long list of things to question and criticize. These guys need information to keep their jobs and they know better than to go down that road.

Dont be surprised to see Jimmy Smith hit it big time some day.

PS - I have absolutely no ties to Mr. Smith. I just appreciate his work.
