OB HVAC Experts Needed

Need some help, crib is hot as shite. Air was blowing, but not cold. Went to check unit, wasnt running, but fan blade was turning pretty easily. Turned thermostat to about 65 so I was sure it needed to kick on. Went outside, unit kicked on, but fan was not turning, sounded like it was trying hard. Put hand on the cover over the motor, hot as shite. Motor siezed up?
UPDATE:
Guy came out Saturday, diagnosed it as bad cap. Didnt have one on him(in personal vehicle), rerouted wires to the other capacitor to get me through the weekend. New capacitor was just installed, everything running fine.
Just wanted to thank the OB for quick responses and piece of mind

Bad fan capacitor and or motor. Unit wasn't originally running due to being tripped on high pressure.

Was it just the fan or was compressor coming on too?
had this happen to mine. was bad capacitor but replaced the motor too

Im pretty sure compressor was kicking on, fan motor was hot as shite when I touched the cover.
I guess this is my yearly capacitor outage, this will be year 3....I just happened to be working out of town the last 2 times.
ETA:
What does this mean?

If the motor turns free when off its probably just the capacitor. While it's running you can try and spin the fan with a screwdriver from the top, if it starts spinning normal it's the cap. Will also get it running until it cycles off again.

If the fan doesn't run the condensing unit builds up heat and excess pressure. It probably has a pressure switch to save the compressor when such problem occurs.

thanks for the info everyone. I think its just the capacitor curse. Guess my pregnant ole lady overworked the unit trying to stay cool
Wouldnt bother me as bad on a weekday, the weekend callout fee is whats worrying me.
frick it, loading up the yak to fish in the morning, wife headed to the in laws.

When it gets hotter the cap is a common problem. if she has another place to stay, going fishing is the correct answer.

Im loaded up, FIL got ahold of one of his old school buddies, hopefully I can forego the weekend callout charge.

Well if it's just the cap it's a fairly cheap fix.

Kind of a double edged sword, but its comforting to know its the cap, since I have paid for a replacement the last 2 summers.
I only plan on being here 2 more years, so I guess I will just ride this unit out until then
Got a fresh new Kistler Magnesium frog rod im excited to break in tomorrow, so my mind is at ease.

You're burning up caps because the draw on them is too much. Bushings going bad in motor quite possibly. I would install a hard start kit right now for both the fan and compressor. They are only like $30 at Acme refrigeration in BR.

Thanks for the info MJ. I had no intentions on this thread getting bumped. Looks like quite a few threads were last replied to by user "isabe366" at around 3:00 this AM, yet they do not show a post by that user

Thanks man, learned something new. I will definately pick one up. Is it a DIY install, or recommended for a professional?

completely DIY. Just make sure the outside unit power is shut off. Usually a switch on the wall by the condensing unit.
