It works for those teams because there are no other teams with a gorilla or teddy bear mascot. It's incredibly dumb to have a hornet mascot when that is Charlotte's mascot. The Warriors mascot was named Thunder but was renamed when OKC got a team. Also, how the hell do you expect OKC to have a mascot of Thunder? Bison makes since (should have been team name in the first place). Would you prefer they have a giant sphere of a Sun for a mascot or a phallic looking Rocket mascot? It's also the reason why the Magic have a dragon.
