The new EPL TV deal with NBC Sports
Posted by Patch on 7/12/13 at 9:57 am00
Ok, after some research, I think I realize the angle for direct tv customers for the total experience. If I want to watch Chelsea or any other english team during weekday or weekend games, I must have at minimum the "Xtra package" at $70.99. If this is all I purchase, this will also include fox soccer (channel 619) so I can watch some champions league matches as well, not all because I would need to purchase fox soccer plus (@ 14.99 per month) to get the champions league games that aren't always on fox soccer. Is this correct?

Fox Soccer and Plus will not exist anymore. They will become Fox Sports 1 and FXX.

I still see advertisements for Fox Soccer Plus, fwiw
Don't really know what they'd put on there to justify the monthly fee

Ah, you're right. It's SPEED that's changing...
And don't know how I managed to double post there.
So, yeah, what's going on with Plus?

quote:I thought I've read they are considering either adding new channels (for people who already have NBCSN) to show the games, putting all the games on NBC Live Extra (online) for free, or both.

Looks like Cox users will get screwed in terms of being able to watch games online.
How do you figure?

Not sure why I am still paying for the "sports pack" for 12.99 when I could upgrade my "choice" programming to Xtra for $6 and and get fox soccer. I have never understood why you have to purchase two different fox soccer programs and why it's not bundled into one soccer deal. I wish everything including UEFA was on the same channel network. Will probably get stuck paying more money now
