What do you guys think the bottom TSLA will hit?

A new thread might serve you better. Personally, other than the okay numbers from the Model S and "we finally made a profit!", not much has changed with the company since March where it was at $40. I thought $80 was a stretch and it flew by that number, so what do I know?

re: Who else is fapping this morning?

ok numbers? Are you serious?

They sold 4700 Model S cars, Mercedes sold over 1000 less S Class, BMW sold close to 2,000 less 7 series, and Audi sold oodles less A8's.

The Tesla model S was rated the best car ever by one of the biggest car magazines on earth and it outsold every other major 4 door luxury car on the planet. To say OK numbers is an understatement.

They're hoping to launch a cheaper model in the near future as well but yes it was $55 like 2 months ago and I passed a few days before earnings bc I felt the valuation was too high....stupid me

re: Who else is fapping this morning?

I completely understand where you are coming from. But I think some of that might be hype. I'm rooting for Tesla and like I said, $80 seems more realistic for how far they've come. Here is a story that I read that made more sense to me:

quote:

Tesla’s pricing is at the low end of what the other high-end luxury cars sell for. The Tesla Model S lists at $62,400 or $72,400 with the 60 kWh and 85 kWh battery packs; the Model S Performance lists at $87,400 with an 85 kWh battery. The cheapest Mercedes-Benz S-Class starts at $92,400. Luxury car automakers have more years experience offering options that can increase the as-sold price by more than 50%. Options carry a higher profit margin than the base car. The Tesla vs. Old Guard comparison reported by CNN and others omitted the Lexus LS, which is closer to the Model S on price, $71,990. (Also there are Jaguar, Maserati, Porsche, and Cadillac luxury sedans, most with higher entry prices.) More importantly, the other top five automakers have mid-size sedans close to the Model S on list price and they’re not included. When they’re hot, they sell 4,000-5,000 units a month. If that’s the comparison, the story isn’t quite as sexy:

Weird contradiction QE has put us in:

"Things are still looking too bad" buybuybuybuy

"Things are starting to look better" sellsellsellsell

Looks like PM's reporting numbers are down.

$88 in premarket

That's a pretty big arse miss, right?

1.30 per share, expected 1.42.

$86.94 now in premarket.

Ouch. This stinks up fat one. I'm in around $90.

No Ive been looking too. Nothing catches my eye. I think I'm goin to add more SNTS haha. Save the rest to open up a ROTH IRA.

Might gamble on DVAX even though that's probbaly a loser. Looked at EBS, XNPT but couldn't find a good enough reason to pull the trigger.

Haven't really had a lot of time to do any real due dilligence though.

ETA: You think its too late to add TSRX?

I bought PM at $92.56, so don't feel too bad. I'm sure in 20 years it won't matter to me.

re: Who else is fapping this morning?

It will not matter, the issues they're facing now are nothing. The US dollar has strengthened and hit hurt them bad last quarter and this quarter, but that's not sustainable, look at our debt level and look at the printing going on. If you really believe the US dollar won't lose its luster over the next 25 years you have to be on crack.

Volumes went down in a few asian/european countries bc of an increase in taxes, we've been raising taxes here for 50+ years and the profits have been rising. It's really the current strength of the dollar that is hurting them, but that makes it a great time to accumulate shares, and this september the dividend will rise to near $4/share making anything you buy today officially a 4.3% yield in september, that is fantastic.

Lots of blue chips are facing headwinds, coke missed earnings as well, but earnings are overstated, they're merely estimates placed upon a company by some analysts in New York. These companies are fine, I would think you'd have to be suicidal to short coke or cigarettes. There's nothing to see just analysts doing what analysts do but both companies are very much profitable, just maybe not to the expectations of wall street, but they're not going anywhere anytime soon.

I'm still fapping, you want the price low as long as possible while you're in the accumulation phase of your youth, the end goal is as many SHARES as possible, that's what you will live off in retirement, the dividend/share......capital gains are nice, but price drops are much nicer.

My thoughts exactly! I hardly ever sell, but I'm not a constant buyer either. I look for what I feel is a cheap price and plan to hold for years. I don't see many cheap stocks out there currently that fit my plan. EBAY is down 6% today, which is intriguing, but most of the other stocks I track are at or near all-time highs. It makes me cautious.
