That will actually be a tough physical team despite the youth

Would love to steal Varajao somehow. Salary wise, it pretty much would have to be either Gordon or Ryno, at least until midseason when we could throw Aminu/Stiemsma/Smiht into something.

Their consolation prize is a lottery pick in a stacked draft.

Unless Dirk misses 50+ games, that pick won't be that high.

It is still not good to rely on the draft to build a team.

Of course not, but I've never understood the belief that they hold little to no value.

No one at all is saying that. We're just tired of hearing people say we got fleeced and the Philly GM is a genius for turning a 23 year old all-star into a draft pick who's best comp is Theo Ratliff and a draft pick that will most likely be in the 12-18 range. Which historically yields even a starter less than 50% of the time.

For comparison their 11th pick this year was MCW who they'll be lucky to turn into a competent starter one day

ETA: Injured draft pick

The Thunder built through the draft.
The Wizards have lived in the draft for over a decade.
The Spurs took one draft stud, and built consistent top 4 team (some through the draft, but not with high picks).
Lots of ways to do it.
