The sound of popping cans in the kitchen. Victory.

Anyone else been putting up veggies for the winter. Made pickles sunday and chow chow tonight. If my damn beens will ever make there'll be pickled green beans for tailgate bloody marys this fall.

No, dill pickles. My parents used to make sweet pickles. Might try them next, but the dills are a lot easier and quicker from what I remember.

I'm waiting on some okra to pickle. My MIL does most of the canning, but my pickles are better. Been eating the shite outta some tomatoes.

My grandmother made the best homemade sweet pickles ever. My cousin is the only one who carried on making them after grandmother passed. Hers aren't as good though.

I used to love Mimi's sweet pickles on a sandwich.

Gonna can some deer meat this year. Have a woman that does it and it's great in gravys and stew.

We usually make a bunch of deer chili and can it. Does well. Leave the beans out though. Their texture gets off after awhile. We just add 'em when we heat it up if someone wants beans.

I've got goddamned cucumber beetles so I'm not having much luck there. But I've got a lot of maters for just having six plants. Unfortunately, or the opposite of it actually, I eat them all so nothing to can.

I've been taking a huge Cherokee Purple tomato with me to the boat every time we go sailing. Little salt and pepper. Goddamn jizz fest amongst the crew. Those things are insanely tasty.

Nice. I made a bunch here before last. Need to make some more before all my green maters turn.

I loathe pickles, but my dad makes sweet pickles and even I will eat one or two. I have about 20 jars at the house if you want one to try.

Harvested 61 ears of corn Saturday. Sitting in the freezer now after a quick blanch and ice bath. Picking cherry tomatoes daily along with Arkansas Traveler and Patio varieties. Got a bunch of onions harvested earlier. Picking at least 4 cucumbers a day. The onions and cucumbers go in a jar mixed with some white vinegar and sugar. Green beans getting canned as well. Picking a handful about every 2 days. My corn, beans, and cucumbers are all in a 8'x8' raised bed. The three sisters method really kicks arse and produces some tasty veggies.

They were an excellent sweet pickle. Her Christmas candy was mighty fine as well.

Do the flavors cross up at all? I do that with peppers and tomatoes every year.
