That's actually an interesting topic in and of itself: great songs that don't necessarily sound great live.

Pretty much any song heavily infused with synth and other electronic additions. Kind of like how the Beatles couldn't really preform a lot of their later songs live even if they wanted too.

seems like a lot of rehash on this one.

I didn't get that impression at all. Totally different than any of their work to date (First album was great, second album blew IMO).

Good album, but it "feels" like a winter album. Should've been released earlier or at end of the year.

Hannah Hunt is best track.

When several different tracks are getting mentioned as people's favorites, that's usually the sign of a really good album.

This is my kind of thread.

I've been LOVING Vampire Weekend since MVOTC came out! The album itself has some weaker songs than others, but some did grow on me, like "Don't Lie".

I'm just giving this album a try. I agree with danman that the first album was great and the 2nd was meh

We'll see how I feel about this album

First I was about Ya Hey. Then it was Diane Young. Then Don't Lie.

But after I listened to it my car, Step is the song. And so that's the final answer.

I like this one more than the second but I still think they need to cut out all electronic stuff and get back to a more simple sound like the first album.

I think Rostam Batmanglij is trying too hard

Well, I'd guess they all liked his stuff going into it or it wouldn't be there. But yeah, some electronic bits like the voice bending in "Diane Young" or the high-pitched samples in "Ya Hey" are a little weird.

I don't mind the voice bending so much but yeah I could do without the high-pitched voice in Ya Hey.

Have been a big fan since their first album. Their second was kind of a let down. Was really excited abut MVOTC. It is good. Not as good as I was hoping for, but I like it.

After finishing the whole album, I can say that it was solid. Better than the 2nd, no where near the first

Truth. I just want to see Ezra (the singer) pull off "Worship You" live.
