With the trend in salaries of QB's this sounds about right. The guaranteed money is pretty high, but about $17.5 million average per year puts him below the players who recently got paid who are obviously better than him. Starting qb's in the NFL simply make a lot of money.

Between his rookie contact and this extension Stafford has made fricking bank.

doesn't he have like a .200 winning percentage against teams with a .500 or above record?

Got him as a 13th round pick thanks to keeper rules from the year before. Worst 13th rd pick ever.

$41.7 million guaranteed in his rookie contract, $41.5 million guaranteed in new extension, and he will only be 29 when this extension is up ,prime age for another huge contract.

He's doing it right.

Is he average, though? They've had line issues in the past and no running game to speak of.

Now that he has the best pass catching back in the league, I bet he has a pretty good season.

ETA: I don't know. Maybe I'm off.

With each new QB contract, Brees looks more and more like a bargain.

The Lions needed to make it worth his while to knock down his 2013 cap number, which was absolutely obscene.

This extension is more of a referendum on how great his agent was in negotiating his rookie contract than on how great Stafford is now.
