Illinois Governor’s Veto of Concealed Carry Bill Overruled, now law

LINK

UPDATE: Senate just voted to override veto as well. Concealed carry passes!

The Illinois House of Representatives has just voted to override Governor Pat Quinn’s more restrictive version of their concealed carry bill which he put in place through his power of amendatory veto according to the Chicago Tribune.

The House voted 77-31 to override the veto and further paving the way for implementing a method of concealed carry in Illinois.

The measure will now go to the Senate for a final vote, expected later today, where it is expected to pass as well.

Governor Quinn tried to lobby for the passage of his significantly more restrictive version of the bill citing a weekend of extreme gun violence in the city of Chicago where over 70 people where shot over the holiday weekend.

Do they ever cite how many of those guns were legally obtained?

Once again, reality shows that democrats are crazy if they think gun control is politically possible.

Why are Democrats like Pat Quinn so insistent on disarming minorities?

Democrats totally ignored what Bill Clinton said about gun control.

Not really, more like a red state with a couple of really densely populated blue areas...

That's ok wick, CA has jumped onto some legislation themselves to make up for those gun nuts in Illinois. If we're lucky it will be signed into law soon.

quote:

Summary: Ammunition buyer pre-authorization requirement; face-to-face ammo sales only at licensed dealers; new “ammunition vendor” system to restrict availability and increase cost of ammunition.
•Requires a background check and pre-approval in order to purchase ammunition.
•Requires all ammunition sales to take place at a limited list of State-approved “ammunition vendors.”
•Requires assistance from vendor staff in order to view/handle any ammunition for purchase.
•Requires ammunition vendors to submit sales records to the CA Department of Justice.

$50 fee to gain the priveledge of excercising your right as defined by the 2nd. It's a small price to pay for the comfort of knowing that only the good guys will have access to ammunition. It's a real utopia out here...can't imagine why so many of my co-workers (CA natives) are abandoning the state like rats froma burning ship.

I hope to read a headline stating "140 Shot in Chicago over weekend" soon. With a minor detail in the bottom of the article stating that 120 of the deceased were would be armed robbers and the remaining was a result of gang on gang violence.

The left does not want to see crime decrease in Chicago after the CCW is legal. It would destroy their less guns, less crime theory...

Looks like it's almost time to open an ammo store at the state line of a border state.
