What's really fricked up is that you gotta know that a live person has been accidentally cut open and had their organs removed.

It took some thought to come up with. But a 10 year old should get it.

You guys are slow. I'll have to keep my eye on you.

Perhaps I am just being anal.

Hell, I would take the heart.

I have heard from several people, one who has worked in hospitals her whole life, that they kind of go half arse on someone who is an organ donor. Half arse as in, may be quick to say the patient is brain dead, like the article, or will be slower to operate, etc. It's just heresay but enough to scare me. Just research how much a hospital makes off some organs. Like one poster said, don't opt to be an organ donor and just let your loved ones make the call if you truly aren't coming back.

Yeah... reason #1 why you should think deeply about ever signing up for organ donation.

Because it's so often they try to take organs from living people right?

re: Woman wakes up on operating table before organs can be removed

When my wife worked at the Earl many years ago, they would call Louisiana organ procurement(LOPA) when they had a patient that was declared brain dead. LOPA has their own team of nurses and doctors who take over and handle everything. In and out very quickly and professionally.
I wonder about this story in that the alleged/almost victim was an overdose patient. I don't know of many doctors who would accept a donated organ from an overdose patient. Wife is at an eye surgery center now, and each donor cornea has all the information about the circumstances surrounding the death of donor. You don't see overdose listed as cause of death. Mostly MVA, stroke, etc.
