I'm sure that this has only been discussed 87 times: WTF happened to The Chimes?

I mean, it was never earth shattering, but I remember all the way through highschool and a few years after (including when Coursey opened) that it was solid food that I'd look forward to eating.

I've heard that Highland is still decent, but at this point I think I'd rather eat at Nagoya than Coursey.

Anyone else feel like the suck has increased strongly over the past 5ish years?

You talking about Chimes East? I've been there probably 6 times in the last few months for work and it's been great all but once. And that was bc I decided to try fish and it just wasn't anything great.

The Chimes East delivers as expected. No issues here.

I used to hate Chimes due to the hippies. I met a few OB'ers at Chimes East a few weeks ago and was very happy with my meal. The Chimes in Covington has been solid every time I've been there.

I don't get down there much, but I still love going too Highland Chimes. Been around the world three times-and yes I cheated the last two times. The food has always been predictably good and the atmosphere I really enjoy. Never been to any other location, but Highland has always let me and my friends Poker gamble any time we wanted-basically turning a blind eye. I still miss and love this place and can't wait to get back.

I seriously didn't realize that Chimes went back to the 60's.

It's a mixture of a Hippie and Zombie apocalypse these days. We only go there for drinks on football game days before tailgating. It's weird shite going on in there these days. Weird shite I tell ya.

Chimes East??? I thought there was a BHO fundraiser in progress last time I went there. I still enjoy the Highland location for Sunday brunch and on gamedays when I'm too lazy to haul my crap out to my friends' tailgate.

Highland is the hippie fest. Chimes East is bullet proof vest worthy. Covington location is where the normal folks are located.

Me thinks he confusing some other bar/restaurant with the Chimes(Chelseas) as a place to get food and drink but having to be in the presence of faux hippies the children of the first generation and thinking he may be stricken with some disease from being in thier presence. It must suck to not think about people that are the same as you, but you have a superiority issue with your view of yourself. The truly funny thing about that attitude is someone else thinks his shite is malodorous.

The Chimes is easily one of my favorites, but I don't go there nearly as often as I used to just due to life. Went last Sunday for brunch, and the boudin omelet was slammin.

Hell, I am speechless about the hippies moniker being given to it. The place is a place of people of all walks gathering everyday. A few profs used to hold little gatherings with thier students on Friday afternoons. The international crowd it once drew was pretty impressive. If a student wanted to practice language skills it was just a matter of finding the right table of friends to chat with and get sloshed.

I can get along with anybody, as long as they aren't assholes or snooty, and as much shite as I take for being a so called food snob, I'm far from snobby. My only requirements are that you be cool and friendly. The rest, no matter how they dress or talk can go jump in a freaking lake for all I care.

Slight hijack, but in the same vein. A fellow student believed that anyone below his socio-economic status was a peasant(his exact word). The class was International Law and the subject of the day was the UN Treaty on Genocide. He opened his mouth with the words that "when it was politically expedient do it". I sat right by him and said a new law has been passed and everyone of this level needs to be killed, he said that that couldn't be done. I responded with it is politically expedient so get your arse in line we have to give you a delousing shower. He never opened his mouth again.
