I'm not saying he couldn't eventually be the starter, but Monty wants to win games now and if Withey absorbs the playbook like most rookies do he's going to be out of position for months. You have to hide a guy like that against 2nd units.

He could start. May not play 25 mpg or anything crazy.
He's being counted on to basically be a big body and somewhat hold his own on D. That skill is transferable. If we were counting on him for more I'd say no chance

Defending the pick n roll with Holiday vs. defending it with Roberts.
Saving Davis a few fouls per game. I think those areas are where his value would come from come.
In the end, i doubt it matters though because i seriously doubt we'll be picking between Jason Smith and Withey as our opening night starter.
