Just finished Bioshock Infinite. Meh, not impressed. (Mild spoilers)

After all the circle jerking and game of the year mentions, I was expecting a masterpiece. shite, some reviewers said it was the best game ever made. They were sitting in stunned silence when the game ended.

Well I was also stunned, but I was saying "Is that it?" and then the credits rolled and I was pissed.

There's like 5 guns in the whole game, and there's no good reason not to use the RPG for every single fight. If someone is just giving you ammo there's no reason to use anything else.

I found the gun fights rather tedious, and several times there would be one random guy left and he would be talking shite, but it took me forever just to find him. This got rather annoying.

The rail fighting is a dumb gimmick, I got so tired of riding a roller coaster just to shoot someone on a different level. And you can't move on until you kill every last guy. In 2013, that is lame as hell.

Elizabeth is annoying. "I can tear open space-time, let's get some guns for the Vox." Are you fricking kidding me?

The story was ok, but I'd rather just watch a movie instead of watching a movie and then shooting a few guys with shitty guns and then watching more of the movie.

I thought it was overrated as well. I actually liked the gameplay ok it was just hyped up to have such an amazing story line, I just didn't really see it.

It's a pretty game with a franchise name.

Enjoyable: yes

GOAT: far from it.

It was a great game, but it suffers from the limitations of an FPS. It was quite enthralling just walking around Columbia but then.....you stick a spinning blade in a guys face and it becomes like any other FPS I've ever played.

I agree, that's what was so disappointing. I was expecting too much I guess. But when I got the Octopus vigor that pulls enemies towards you, all I could think was Bulletstorm.

In fact, a lot of the vigors were pretty standard. Bucking bronco, Murder of crows, Shock jockey and Undertow were all just stun effects.

I really liked it, but some of the characters and the story was what made the game good.

The FPS aspect was pretty generic, as far as FPS goes.

You did realize that a lot of them combine right?

Murder of Crows and Shock Jockey work together to create electric fricking birds swarms.

How do you combine them?

I just meant that their affects stack.

Another example is if you get someone wet with Undertow, Shock Jockey does more damage.

Possession + Shock Jockey = Possessed Lightning Conduit, Zapping Nearby Enemies
Possession + Devil’s Kiss = Possessed Fire Conduit, Burning Nearby Enemies
Devil’s Kiss + Charge = Target Spawns Multiple Spreading Fire Bombs
Murder of Crows + Devil’s Kiss = Sets Crows Ablaze, Burning Nearby Enemies
Murder of Crows + Shock Jockey = Electrifies Crows, Electrocuting Nearby Enemies
Bucking Bronco + Devil’s Kiss = Launches a Cluster of Bombs from Floating Target
Bucking Bronco + Charge = Send a Floating Target Careening Forward
Undertow + Shock Jockey = Intensifies Shock Jockey’s Power
Those are the combinations.

That's pretty cool. I'm not saying it's a bad game by any means, I just don't understand all the hype. I'll have to play through it again and use those combos, sounds sweet.

I understand what you are saying.

It is kinda like Inception. Was the top still spinning?

The story and the discussions that stemmed from it made the game much more popular.

It was fun, refreshing change of pace for me from the generic military shooters like battlefield. I don't know if it's game of the year material, but I say that about every game. I can't tell you the best game I've played. I have no idea. If I finish it, that at least means I didn't lose interest, and I easily lose interest.

It does at least deserve credit for not being broken on day 1 as a PC game. In fact, I did not encounter a single bug. Scaled crossfire beautifully with max settings.

The game would be served well being 3rd person instead of 1st.

The option to go 3rd person would have been cool.

Great Game. Great Story.

My complaint is that at times it felt like the FPS aspect of the game was forced. It was obvious that the game just wanted to tell a story. I felt like the developers went with FPS in order to sell more copies.

They definitely did, they copped out with the "dudebro with a gun" cover choice to get more sales.

they absolutely did. levine confirmed this. they need lots of buyers to offset the costs so it almost forces them to make it an fps
