Isn't Lael Collins CRob's look in the mirror?

There has been a lot of discussion about Bama linemen versus LSU lineman being drafted (1st Round) in the NFL. Isn't Lael the true test for LSU as relates to Cameron Robinson?

Alabama has recruited much higher rated OL than LSU and as a consequence would naturally have higher drafted o-linemen than LSU. Collins is that high rated lineman that is comparable to Robinson and the top rated lineman Bama has had drafted.

Collins is the test of whether a high rated (5*) o-lineman can come to LSU and be coached up to becoming a 1st round draftee. I believe the answer will be a resounding YES! Our previous guy, Faulk, was injured and entered the draft before establishing he was fully recovered from his injuries. He was projected 1st round before his injuries.

So if the lure of Bama for Robinson is preparation for 1st round draft status, I believe the answer is LSU can get the job done as well. Especially considering Bama's new oline coach has not prepared any lineman that was drafted in the 1st round or a high round.

As an aside, does Robinson have a relationship with any LSU recruits or players? I hear about some with Bama players, especially the QB recruit.

I know Wildman feels recruiting is a coaches only job. But I would hope Robinson is not getting that "like family" feel from Alabama recruits and players, but not LSU's.

Trying to get into the head of a seventeen year old who has been pulled from side to side by well-meaning and not so well-meaning people is very tough to do. This is why I read about recruiting but rarely comment on recruiting. Until a name is signed sometime in February, EVERYTHING is speculation. I trust the coaches to know how to evaluate talent, and I trust them to recruit in an ethical manner without bringing in the thugs of the world.

Coach Miles seems to me like he is genuinely interested in the recruit as a player and a person. I could be wrong, but that's the sense I get. As to being coached "up" at the position level, I hope that happens. many a player was an "also ran" in college only to blossom in the pros, and the converse is equally true.

Let me help to do my part. Mr. Robinson, as you read this, and I would have to believe that you do read this forum's comments, please know that this is one LSU fan who would love to see you here. You are connected to this state, and your high school is well-represented at LSU. Having said that, you are also not a child. I am sure you will do what you and your parents and the significant people in your life think is in your best interest. You can bet that your name on an LSU LOI will make many, many people in LA thrilled.

BTW, I really can't stand BAMA!!! Come here and help your team beat them four years in a row in order to knock that smug smirk off each Bama fan's face.

Did you not pay attention during the season when he suffered that knee injury? OL with bad knees is a massive red flag for GM's.

Faulk would have been 1st or 2 rd pick maybe high 3rd if not for his knee injury.

IMO, the biggest factor with C Robinson and other OL LSU has to overcome is the lack of success of OL in the draft/NFL the last several years. Faulk shouldn't have come out early IMO after a devastating knee injury (his mistake) but even some of the other highly rated guys out of HS (some admittedly HS DL like Barksdale, Davenport, etc) have hardly set the world on fire.

whats amazing is isn't O line Les' forte. I mean seems like we have a OL as a head coach so that should be a strong point. Saban was a DB and his DB's have been legit every year. Come on Les !!!!

Yes, it actually seems like Les has done a better job than Saban in recent years as far as putting quality, high profile DB's in the NFL is concerned.

Hate losing players early but Lael to the draft in the first round after this coming season would go a long way with some future recruits. Good post.

Agreed, although It's easier to sell recruits on their recent strong run on draft picks. However I still think the belief Cam is a Bama lock is delusional. Strong lean, maybe, but stranger things have happened. Regardless I think Ethan Pocic will be an excellent player for us.

Someone needs to tell him about how Saban uses his players and doesn't care about them, He only cares about the "process" and his rings.

Remember Ben Wilerson. He was a co-Remington award winner and All American When the season started he was a sure fire frist round pick.

Saban had him playing in late in the fourth quarter against Vandy with a big lead and he tore his knee up and was not drafted. Only played part time in 5 games.

Nikc got his million dollar raise. Wilerson didn't get the contract.

Collins was suppose to be a Left Tackle now he is a Left Guard, I don't get it unless he is playing left tackle since Faulk left. JMO
