He essentially defriended him on Twitter. To be fair, he is partly to blame for him leaving.

What's up with lakers fans and "bye Felicia"? I get the Friday reference, but not really understanding why that's Dwight's nickname. Anyone know the origin?

Do you know what a red herring is? Kobe's entire speech was a misdirection with a calculated outcome. He is a cold and calculating MFer, and he had a plan. Dwight was a terrible fit in laker culture and Kobe got rid of him once and for all

Kobe said the things he did because he knew it would push Dwight away because Dwight thinks he already knows everything Kobe said he would teach him. You honestly think kupchak and the buss family didn't know what Kobe was going to say in that meeting?

Business meetings like that leave nothing to chance. Kobe was sent in as an assassin and he did his job.

They amnesty artest, trade gasol at the deadline and regroup for summer 2014. I firmly believe that was the plan all along

Hey now, Kobe has never lost a "shots attempted" contest. Never.

It would be fun to watch with him and Melo try to out-shoot each other

He tried to make it work with Dwight because he had to but he hated his arse from day 1.

Has he liked anyone on his team ever? He has to be the biggest whiner to have won as many rings as he did, which is easy to do with the supporting casts he has had.

Good luck winning another one before you retire...oh wait, that isn't going to come close to happening with the Queen Bitch Kobe on the team. It will be fun watching the Laker freefall along with Boston

Seeing the Lakers struggle next year, Kobe joins Miami for the MLE in 2014 to win his 6th title so everyone will stop saying he doesn't have as many as Jordan.

Kobe needs LeBron to win.

Kobe acts like he never held the Lakers hostage and he never demanded to be traded.

Kobe unfollowed Dwight on twitter and posted a pic of him with another man. He’s a gallon of ice cream away from being a crazed ex-girlfriend

Regroup for the summer 2014 when Kobe's skills have gone from substantially diminished to completely eroded?

Great plan, Jerry West.

I think you may be a little out of your element with this thread if you don't get that strategy.

I think Kobe had one job in that meeting: to piss Dwight off The team played all the right PR cards, Kobe comes in like a ninja and guts Dwight, Dwight leaves and now the story is Dwight wasn't cut out to be a Laker anyway Everybody but Dwight wins

There's really no way you can logically argue that Kobe won and Dwight lost, it was clearly the otherwway around.

Your argument is that Kobe wanted to end any chance he had at winning one more title, like I said, that's illogical.

maybe it's just me.

but I don't understand why one side has to be a winner and one side has to be a loser

Lets face it. It was a one year experiment that didnt work.

Dwight can move on and be a better fit in Houston. LA can prepare for 2014 or the future.

There is no winning and losing here

The lakers would have loved to keep Dwight if he is willing to change his attitude. Kobe spelled that out, Dwight signed with Houston. That's it

So now Kobe's final years in LA won't be about Dwight's selfish attitude and failures in LA

Eyeran, mattz, and bobbyray have all been in characteristically horrible in this thread.

This is a non-issue. Why would you stay in touch with an ex-teammate you did not get along with? It is petty at most.

Yeah, the Lakers lost the Dwight sweepstakes, but they should have been smart with getting a sign and trade. They will be average this year, but they will regroup for 2014.

Houston should be ecstatic. Hopefully, it works out for them. I am unsure of how Dwight will respond with his health in the future. Big men don't recover; they only get worse. Still, Dwight should be at an all NBA level as long as there are no new injuries.

Agreed

LA wanted Dwight back on their terms, Dwight want to play in Houston on his terms

LA didn't want a sign and trade because they want max flexibility with their cap

I would take on an expiring contract, trade exception, or picks for sure. None of those hurt.

I am not sure what Houston had to give in that department.
