Daniel Sandifer (March 1, 1927 – August 15, 1987), was an American football defensive back who played from 1948 to 1953. Because of WWII, he was one of the few college football players to play in two College All-Star Games.
Sandifer was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the 1948 NFL Draft out of LSU, and that SAME season he led the NFL with a then record 13 interceptions. Dick "Night Train" Lane's 14 interceptions in a season is the ONLY time Sandifer's record was surpassed in NFL history. Sandifer's 13 interceptions remains the All-Time single season interception record for the Washington Redskins. He also is included in a group of NFL players who hold the record for most interceptions in a game; four - Washington vs. Boston, Oct. 31, 1948, and in that same game returned two interceptions for touchdowns, a record that has never been surpassed. Sandifer was an architect. He was one of the architects of the Louisiana State University Student Union Building in Baton Rouge. Could he get a mention?

I consider myself a semi-historian of LSU football and I didn't even know of him.
I see he was drafted by Baltimore of the AAFC in 48 and the Skins in 48. Played at the same time as Y.A. @ LSU. I see he was a halfback during his time here. Loaded backfield which was 2nd in the nation in rushing in 45.
Bout all I can find on a quick search of my books and such

I don't know if Faneca's best year was any better than his worst year. He was so dominant it would be hard to choose. But he should be in this list.
The other missing player IMO is Johnny Robinson. He was all AFL six years in a row and then came back to be named to that team three more times. KC Chiefs.

Faneca deserves to be on every offensive lineman list for both college and pro. Opened many holes for Faulk at LSU.
Jimmy Taylor beat Jim Brown in rushing the year mentioned, for Brown's only second place finish. May have beat him more, had the Packers not had Whorenung. Taylor and Van Buren for their careers.
Bert Jones for the one exceptional year. Y.A. for his career.
Leonard Marshall was a beast at DL. At LSU, he made Bear Bryant quit.

The answers posted in this thread are a joke. Anyone with even a vague knowledge of NFL history knows that Steve Van Buren was such a dominating force in the league in the late 1940s that you could pretty much label any individual season for him from that era as the greatest season by an LSU player in the NFL. The guy held a ton of NFL records before a knee injury finally did him in. He was way ahead of his time as a player.

This board loves faneca no one is disrespecting him
But there are many younger guys here who do not know the great and I mean all time great players that LSU has sent to the league
And it's a fact. Leonard Marshall made the Bear quit. One of the all time epic performances vs Bama in 1982

He had a handful of spectacular games when he got to a team that knew how to set the table for him.
I'm pretty sure Patrick Peterson had the single best ST season of any former LSU player ever.

Not only that, but Jim Taylor did that during Jim Brown's prime. He was the only guy other than Brown to win the rushing title in about an 8 year period.
