Looking back, did anyone else seriously want Les fired after '09?

I remember watching the Capital One Bowl game in 2009 with a few friends. When the game ended, we all kind of agreed that we would give Les one more season in 2010 to prove himself as the right coach for the job.

Looking back at that now, it seems that we were all stupid and wrong, yet I still wouldn't blame us. 2008 and 2009 were tough seasons for us because I could tell we had so much talent on the team, and it really seemed like the coaches weren't doing a good job. Plus the Ole Miss game in '09 was a painful game to watch, but probably not as painful as the 2008 Ole Miss game.

Anyway, just curious if anyone else was like this too.

His record speaks for itself, and the job he has done recruiting can only be matched by a few others, but he sure as hell makes some decisions that can make me mad as hell at him.

With that said, I can probably only count on one hand how many coaches I would replace him with. I'm not in love with him, but I am content with him.

Fired, no. But hoped that UM would have been serious about bringing him up there to coach. Win Win for all involved at that point. But they never were serious about it, regardless of what many believe.

Yeah, he's had his successes and his failures for sure.

No. I felt then and still do LSU had to play penn state and the field. Took away every advantage LSU held talent wise

I've never been more upset with him than after UT in 2010. Even 1/9 I wasn't as upset with HIM. I felt before that game that a rematch gave Bama the advantage from almost every aspect.

But man I was hot after UT. He was as well though. Wasn't that when he called BS on his own team?

Tiger Stadium was hot after that game. It was the most surreal feeling walking out.

(Raises hand)

I thought that Katrina season was one of the greatest coaching jobs and leadership feats I've ever witnessed. To navigate through that mess of a state disaster and lead us to the SECCG? Not many men could have done that. I've been a long-time fan.

The man has never gotten credit for 05

And when offered credit he gives it to the players on that team.

Speaks for itself right there

I remember that game vividly... from losing... then winning...

it was such a weird feeling afterwards... never seen so many people wanting miles head than after that game.

heres the problem. fans are spoiled. yes we gave talent, but so does every team. think back to the 05 ckass with rp. that ckass was abysmal because saban had his foot out the door. 08 and 09 they were the upperclassmen. we werent that talented. 17-18 teans out recruited us in 05 and 06.

auburn, uga, uf had way more talent than we did. and we lost to those 3 teams.

I started a thread after that game: LINK
Here are some quotes:(Calling LSU Mike)

quote:

I feel fine. Doesn't bother me that Miles lost and got outcoached again nor that we are stuck with him another season. But i'm excited about next season as well knowing it should more than likely be his last. -LSU Mike

quote:

No, I live in reality. I know they will not contend for the sec or bcs title. Why try to pump p&g sunshine up my arse with unrealistic expectations. It will only make the losses hurt more when they come and they are coming. The sooner you realize this the better you are. Now go stick your head back in the sand.-LSU Mike

quote:

You were fine with Dinardo and Archer, too. Admit it.-Horndog

quote:

This is f'n hilarious. You have got to be kidding. What ability has he ever shown in years? Were things corrected this year between games? Were they corrected in the month before the bowl game? NO, NO, and NO
So hell yeah. Let's just keep giving him millions and extensions to be 8-4 every year with a mile-fil-a bowl win every once in a while. That makes perfect sense.
You are the type that lives in dream world that would keep a bad coach until the program is run so far in the ground it would take years to recover and build it back up-LSUMike

quote:

I want to know how hard it is to see that the program is on a steady decline for the past few years and how you just refuse to see it. If you can honestly sit here and say Miles is the best coach LSU can get and worth every penny of the $4 mil a year we are paying him (at least me don't know about you). Thank god you are not the AD because we would be in serious trouble. -LSU Mike

quote:

Well at least I demand perfection in my business. If not I will be fired and not working. That is the obvious problem with you morons. You do not expect excellence and you settle for mediocracy. Do you enjoy throwing hard earned money down the drain to help pay for Miles' ridiculous salary? Now go finish your p&g miles-aid and just keep waiting on your dream world season to arrive. Your savior will have you there in no time.-LSU Mike

Dude shut up. I remember a lot of tiger fans wanting his head after that game. Plus, those two seasons were dismal for us. If we had 8-5 and 9-4 again and again, all tiger fans would eventually start calling for his head.

Memo to NeverRains;
Look up the difference between "all" and "a lot".

Also look up "maturity", "getting over it" and "moving on".
