Know he has good hands and is a good receiver, but can he put on enough size between now and the start of the season to play TE in the SEC? Can Moffit work some magic that fast with the dude and have him where he can step on the field as a TE or do we split him out in the slot this season? Seems he has a long way to go to put on some size and may need a redshirt season.

Yes, he will get a lot of pt imo

Physically he is already ready to play as a pass catcher

I would assume so. Especially with that new coordinator we got, Cam Cameron.

If he gets in the 230-240 range I think he could possibly start against TCU. Dickson has barely any real experience so that position is easily up for grabs

I am really excited about him and I think that he will have a great career at LSU!!! Regardless of his size I still see him getting playing time this season.

He'll play on obvious passing downs. He'll have to prove he can block before being a starter for Les. LSU runs far too much for that not to be the case. He has unbelievable hands. Look forward to seeing him play.

What's the point of having a run TE and a pass TE? If the guy's only going to be in on obvious passing downs, you're better served having another WR in the game instead. No slam on DS, just talking generally.

He's a true freshman. It's not going to stay that way.

Hopefully he develops into the Dennis Pitta role

A Good pass catching TE is the QB's best friend

I said in a thread months ago that I will self ban myself for the entire following season if smith doesn't see significant PT this year barring injury. I saw him in person and was sold. Dude is sooo damn good

He might play if he can quickly learn COLLEGE level pass routes and blocking. You learn your plays and assignments or you don't play. This aint high school. I don't give a shite what he did in high school.

Anyone remember Randy McMichael?

That's who I see Smith like, but I think he's faster.

It really matters on how fast he picks up the scheme. Don't count Dickson out just yet. He showed flashes and put on good weight this offseason.

If he is serviceable as a blocker and picks up the offensive scheme he will play. If not he won't play much.

True freshman. Learning routes and blocking takes time. Doubt he plays a ton. But he may become the new Chad Jones/Brad Wing of this board on hype alone.
