It doesn't matter how good of a scout you are, no one can truly predict a guy will be at the next level.

shite, if OKC got the 1st pick they'd have taken Greg Oden instead of Durant

ESPN

The whole idea of the one path to contending is a myth.

But the draft is still important. Every title team (other than the fluky Pistons team) has had at least one of their top 2 players obtained in the draft. You've got to find a star first and the draft remains the best way to acquire a star. Having 1sts gives you cheap, long term labor and is also an attractive asset to other teams (see Demps, Dell or the Celtics trade for Ray Allen).

No one has really tried what Demps is doing, but I like it. Contending is ultimately on Davis's timetable, but hes got a good, young, flexible team that will keep everyone (players, fans, media, etc) interested. After 2 years in the wilderness, the team has some league wide relevance and Demps should be commended for his work this sunmer.

serge ibaka is the definition of a lucky, outlier pick

LOL, okay. If you want to the play the whole game of just throwing out valid points as nonsense, then there is no arguing with you.

I'm sorry one guy has completely nailed FOUR picks in different drafts. What other GMs can say they have drafted four all stars, no matter where the hell you're picking from? (Ibaka will be an all-star shortly)

perkins? getting fricking ROBBED in the harden deal? how great were those picks last year? what about OKC's paper-thin bench?

I will concede that the Harden trade has proved to be shitty. But honestly, he would have been gone after this year for NOTHING anyway. Jeremy Lamb and Steven Adams could potentially be something for us. I do not like the trade, either, and would have rather gone for it all this year...but we all know Harden was gone.

As if you couldn't say the same for every fricking type of pick in the history of any sport. Your arguments honestly hold no weight against mine.

ETA: I replied to NawlinsTiger's post but my actual response was for SFP

You're right, and that's fine. This team is in "win now" mode in the sense that we're no longer tanking. Not in the sense that it's championship time.

Yup Benson is 160, could bite the dust any second. You can bet your arse he's in "win now" mode
