let's also remember that their super duper star, potential top 10 player of all time guy, didn't even go #1

They got lucky that the Blazers took Oden. So people want us to get lucky for 3 straight years.

AFA + Copeland+ Hasheem Thabeet. Probably would work financially.

Thabeet sucks but he can run and block. I don't know. Trying to make up a stopgap 5 is hard.

Line up 1024 people.

Give them all a quarter. They flip it 10 times.

Each time you get a "head," you take a step forward.

Likely 1 or 2 people take all 10 steps forward.

Let's says one is named "Frank."

Flipping a coin 10 times in a row, taking a step forward when you get "heads" is now called the "Frank Model" because it worked once, and basically had to.

We'll just ignore the other 1023 losers doing the same thing.

It's model? No. It's maximizing the opportunity that luck brought you.

I like these moves because it improves the team but still keeps it on course for building for the future. You're just acquiring guys who are already somewhat proven versus taking a gamble on lottery picks. That said, Gordon needs to go. His attitude has always been irrelevant to me it's the fact that he'll always be a huge risk to not play a majority of the season and with his contract that money can be put to better use elsewhere.

I think Demps has turned us into a playoff contender overnight which is exiting. We have been cast into NBA purgatory and are finding hope in some young acquired talent.

We can make the playoffs, it's actually very real possibility. I don't think anyone actually believes we can contend but we can compete.

Even if they had the same roster as last year, I expected them to make the playoffs this year.

because getting 3 all stars in back to back to back drafts is an extremely rare and unlikely occurence

Sorry other GMs don't pick players well. Are all of you implying Sam Presti's decisions were just a fluke?

not a fluke but very lucky. relying solely on lottery picks to get you to where you want to be is not a very smart approach. otherwise teams like charlotte and sacremento would be elite. okc model is not something teams should strive to follow, it worked great for them but 9 times out of 10 it won't turn out that way. you will just suck for a really long time

Presti is solid. Nevertheless, the Thunder has been very fortunate with the way things have fallen

Drafting Serge Ibaka 24th overall was definitely relying on being in the lottery and just "being there" to select a good player, huh guys?

Taking Westbrook over your boy Eric Gordon and other players was real luck, too? Harden over people such as your new boy Tyreke Evans, among others, was lucky too?

Just because the Thunder had a high spot does not mean you're automatically going to have a good pick. There IS a reason why the same teams are in the lottery each year - they usually frick it up.

Not a fluke, but to say he hasn't been very fortunate with some of his decisions is just being naive.

Besides, trading Harden away for peanuts was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen.

serge ibaka is the definition of a lucky, outlier pick

tell me about your other draft picks and moves

perkins? getting fricking ROBBED in the harden deal? how great were those picks last year? what about OKC's paper-thin bench?

Presi has some home runs, but he's hit into some triple plays, too
