I never saw this as I drew a line and sided with Rookie of the Year instead. Is it worth watching for the first time as an adult or is it only good with nostalgia?

It's a good movie almost on par with Rookie of the Year. Worth a watch for sure.

I was a huge fan of both that movie and ROTY growing up.. although I'd have to say Rowengartner > Heywood

Love the movie but cant stand Billy. He sensationalized baseball more than Tim Kirkjian.
You guyz are major leaguers! Jerry, you should be hitting 40 homers a year!

Far better than Rookie of the year

The baseball depicted in LBL is better than ROtY. I liked both growing up, but now I would rather watch LBL.
ETA: I grade baseball movies on how realistic they are. When a movie uses a CG baseball, it really pisses me off. ROtY was guilty of doing things like this.
LBL actually had real life baseball action going on. I love that. Lou Collins was a stud in the movie and I bet he could play in real life too.
This is when Billy moved him over and he caught a Line drive right at him. Love this movie more as I think about my favorite parts.

Would you rather own the Minnesota Twins or play for the Chicago Cubs?

Rookie of the Year is one of the iconic movies of my childhood and my close circle of friends still quote from it. As far as LBL the Mariners were my team back then with Griffey and it was nice to see them wreck shite at the end.

Mine too.
I hate the cubs due to being forced to watch their shitty ball games on WGN growing up
