That's kind of what I was thinking. If Stevens is hired 2 years ago it's not surprising at all.

This is an ideal situation to step into for him. Would it be any better if it were a crappy franchise like the Kings?

Not as crappy as the Kings but Celtics fans won't be patient for long. Unless they get Wiggins they'll be shouting Pitino 2.0 by his 2nd season.

He's gonna develop a coke problem and crash out of the league after choking Rajon Rondo on the floor following the last game of a 20-62 season in 2015.

rondo won't play for this dude. Wouldn't shock me if he's asking for a trade by the deadline

Maybe a bunch of things here

Didn't want to break butlers heart leaving for another college but can fail and then have his pick of schools

Or a money run

Or he might win someday

Don't fault him or the celts really just never heard him mentioned for a nba gig that I recall

If its a long drawn out process, I think Ainge would take the blunt of the criticism.

That's fine. Stevens is high reward but if he blows than he is our sacrificial lamb who we dump for a solid NBA coach once the roster is back up to title contention.

Great move. You gotta feel for Butler, though. That place is the eternal stepping stone.

If they continue to hire from within, they'll probably be fine.

I think he'll be the Celtics coach for 3 or 4 years then when Coach K retires he'll be at Duke.

More random hire, this or Kidd?

And people are always bitching about retreads being hired in the NBA.

Stupid. It happens in every sport.

Heck, a retread won it all 2 years ago
