14 years ago today...
Cure for pain is one of my favorite albums ever and I love Yes as well. To think of all the great music he still had in him...
RIP Sandman

I know there are people on here who have heard about morphine. They were actually quite popular when sandman died. It's not like I'm talking about some obscure post avant garde art rock band

who?
Sandman was an iconoclast. Two-stringed slide bassist. Inventor of "Low Rock". The title track off of his posthumous (Morphine) album The Night is one of the most beautiful, haunting, chill-inducing pieces of music ever recorded.
Hyperbole? Of course. But Morphine will always be one of my favorites. To the OP, CSB- Partied with the band into the wee hours at the Garage in Bham after one of their shows. Many bottles of wine were consumed, and many theories and postulations were born..
BTW He died mid-concert at a festival in Italy. Went out big..

yea i watched his documentary that came out recently Cure for Pain: Mark Sandman story and I always thought it was a heroin overdose he died from but according to his family and friends he was actually doing pretty good at that point and wasn't believed to be on any heroin. of course, past use could have something to do with his heart unexpectedly stopping at such a young age

Huh.. have to check out the doc.

do you mean icon?
i·con·o·clast ( -k n -kl st ). n. 1. One who attacks and seeks to overthrow traditional or popular ideas or institutions.
Actually, he was both, I guess..

I said "who" and you said he was an iconclast. While there is a reasonable expectation that I might have heard of someone accurately described as an "icon" in the modern sense, there is absolutely no reason to assume I've heard of someone simply because he was an iconoclast.

Just a descriptor, man.. Sorry for Iconoclasting..

I guess July 3 is the date when musicians meet their maker
