Four wheelers

Buy a used one- there are plenty mid-2000 Ranchers that can be had for $2000-$3000. Still look good and have a lot of life in them.

If you have to have a new one, Brookhaven Honda does manual shift 4x4 Ranchers for $4600+tax.

If I wanted a manual transmission I'd get a Honda.
If I wanted an auto trans, I'd get a Kawasaki or Yamaha.

I don't like Hondas automatics , but the rest of their bikes are bulletproof and reliable.

If you find a few youre interested in,post what they are and ill let you know what to look for on them.

If you want the best riding best pulling, best engine by far, then find a 500 sportsman.

ranchers and foremans without electric shift are good but ride and pull like shite unless you get a newer one with independent rear suspension.
If it will be rode in mud n water check rear dif oil daily..

honda and kawi rearends and carb work(all brands) keep me very busy.

if you plan on snorkling and big tirews the canam belt will overheat and wear out very quickly

for mud there is no better than polaris

for trail and occasional mud with not much bigger than stock tire canam is good

Honda Rancher

If youre mostly using it for work and hauling heavy things, then I would say a Foreman 500 (footshift). A lightly used one will run you around $3500. The solid axle will stand up to anything and the 500 has a lot of low end power.

If youre going to primarily be trail riding and having fun with it, my vote goes to the Grizzly. I have owned several Atvs, both Honda and Yamaha, and I prefer the Yamaha. My Hondas were very cold natured, whereas my Yamaha will fire right up and be ready to ride after sitting for weeks at a time. The CVT that Yamaha has is very durable, and very convenient for trail riding. For the full sized Grizzly, you can get a 660 (older), a 550, or a 700. You cant really go wrong with either one. The newer ones are fuel injected which is also nice to have. They also offer a 400-450 Kodiak/Grizzly that is comparable in size to the Rancher. I had a 2006 Kodiak 450 that I loved, and regret selling.

Got the guy down to $1100 on the 350es. Has brake issues and a little rust near the engine. I assume this is somewhat normal on a bike this age?
