Orioles acquired RHP Scott Feldman and C Steve Clevenger from the Cubs for RHPs Jake Arrieta, Pedro Strop, and cash considerations.

The cash considerations work out to $388,100 in international bonus money. While higher-profile names like Bud Norris and Ricky Nolasco were bandied about for Baltimore's rotation, Feldman isn't a bad alternative. The 30-year-old right-hander owns a fine 3.46 ERA and 67/25 K/BB ratio in 91 innings over 15 starts this season. While his ERA figures to go up with the move to the American League East, he should be an upgrade for Baltimore.

Dodgers acquired RHP Carlos Marmol and cash considerations from the Cubs for RHP Matt Guerrier.

The cash considerations include international signing bonus slot No. 92, which is valued at $209,700. Marmol was designated for assignment by the Cubs last week after posting a 5.86 ERA and 32/21 K/BB ratio in 27 2/3 innings this season, but the Dodgers will take him on as a reclamation project. Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Cubs will cover nearly $2 million of the roughly $5 million remaining on Marmol's contract.

Thoughts? Taken at face value, it's a great move for every team.

The Dodgers have money to spare and can afford to take on Marmol and his money to see if he will sink or swim. It can help them more than it can hurt them.

The O's get a decent mid-line starter. It'd be nice to see them end up with a true ace but there is still plenty of time to make that happen.

The Cubs dump Marmol and add bodies to the system. Just what they needed.
