Can someone tell me the deal with next years draft pick?

I know we traded it to the Sixers and it was lightly protected or something. What exactly does that mean, lightly protected? Is it like a clause if we end up top 3 worst team we can keep the pick or something? Help me out.

If they get top 5, do the Sixers automatically get an unprotected pick the following year to make up for it?

This better not roll over to the future and have the team stuck with an Otis Thorpe for #2 pick deal if they do get top 5 next year.

If the pick ends up being top five, Pelicans keep it and that's that. There are no other conditions. Deals like this are gambles on the part of the teams agreeing to the protection. So, yes, if the Pelicans got the third pick then all the Sixers would have gotten for Holiday is Noel.

I think the goal by GM is for it to be in the 20's. Hopefully it works.
