Interesting question: Who is worth more to you? Iggy? Or Monta Ellis? If you answer Ellis, it probably means you overvalue a volume scorer who cannot elevate his teammates. If you answer Iggy, though, it means that you properly recognize and appreciate his ability to affect every single facet of any game he plays in, even if he is not shooting or scoring particularly well. A great defender — and GMs value that nowadays more than they used to.

29. Corey Brewer (Small Forward, Denver Nuggets)

Much more important to the Nuggets’ 57 wins season than most gave him credit for, and has steadily improved offensive game over the past few years. The kind of guy any coach would want on their team, even if unheralded. Exbibit B behind Tony Allen in “Will defenders get paid?” dynamic. Brewer is a decent ballhandler and has been improving his perimeter shooting, as well.

31. Chris Copeland [R] (Power Forward, New York Knicks)

Certainly showed enough in limited minutes to warrant a multi-year deal from some NBA team looking for a big with upside. Pro is he showed marked improvement during his first year in the NBA. Con is that he is already 29 years old and isn’t actually a “young” player, though his mileage is limited. Days in New York may be numbered. Knicks cannot re-sign him for more than about $3.2 million. Will he get more?

39. Al-Farouq Aminu (Small Forward, New Orleans Pelicans)

We have seen flashes, but not the consistency required of a player who has played three seasons after being selected 8th overall just recently. Sneaky signing by cap room team? (Cavs, Bobcats, Hawks?) Or taxpayer’s minimim signing? (Case in point: Billy King has given Nets coach Jason Kidd a list of players to contact July 1 at 12:01 EDT. Is this guy on the list? Nice backup for Paul Pierce in theory.)
