I tried watching it because the teasers all gave the impression of a show that was going to be pretty even handed in its ridicule of politicians and talking heads on the 24 hour networks. Then I watched about an episode and a half and realized it's basically just a socialist propaganda piece with douchey, unlikeable characters that think they are all the most interesting, amazing, intelligent people in the world. HBO should be ashamed of themselves for letting that steaming pile of trash get another season.

Newsroom brought pretentious TV to a new level.

It was passable with West Wing because, yeah, you're dealing with the leader of the free world.

But with Newsroom you had a set of pretentious douches explaining how you should feel about the universe with the added layer of it all taking place in the past, so they had the benefit of future sight.

After a couple of episodes it became a predictable comedy.

It is the perfectly dishonest television show for our perfectly dishonest country, and a perfect representation of Obama's effete, sand-in-the-vag AmeriKKKa. I would like to punch every person involved in it's production in the uterus and then force them to get a real job somewhere in Flyover Country.

Same here. The Daniels rant was good and hooked me in. I hate both sides of politics.

Then it went full retard. Pretentious assholes.

I only made it through the first 15 mins or so of ep 1. When two of the male characters started insulting each other... Someone spoke like that to me, even if it was in the workplace, there would be blood on the floor. Might be more mine than the other guys,

but I wouldn't just sit there and think about my next witty retort. And then the little worm character breaks them up with "well I was a Marine" or whatever. Yeah, right. In the real world, people get their clocks cleaned.

I'm obviously in the minority bc I actually like the show. It does take itself to seriously at times, but it has givin me a whole new understanding of how to view sensationalistic media. Pluss I like Allison Pill, Jeff Daniels, Sam Waterson, and I love Olivia Munn.

I'm pretty liberal so the slant doesn't bother me to much. I did laugh when Saigon Jane stepped on screen bc at that point Sorkin was straight up saying f u to any conservative still watching the show.

I laughed too. Then I realized any political show that she was involved with would be one sided completely.

Also "the hindsight-this is how you should feel" angle turned me off of the show as well.

I like it. I enjoy the pretension. I can relate to it. Plus I generally agree with the show. Republicans are liars and fox news killed journalism.

I don't know which "real world" you live in, but I don't know people who fight anymore. Because at some point we matured and graduated high school.

I like the show, the one thing I don't like is how it says it's an unbiased look on politics but it's obviously biased, I'll still watch it but you just have to realize it's not going to be unbiased

FIFY.

I laugh, because you a partly correct. The other side of that is that Democrats are liars and the MSM is very left leaning. I can't stand this whole left or right angle you guys try to shove down people's throats and act like "your side" is the right one.

News flash, both the Dems and Pubs have screwed this country historically. And while I wouldn't choose the right or left, if someone put a gun to my head, I guess I would have to go to the right side. The left is a sick cruel joke taking advantage of many people and are, imo, worse than the greedy, shitty right.

Now these teasers promoting the show's second season, with the anchor guy wandering in the wilderness (a la Moses, I assume).

Good Lord, I hate the show even more now than I did when I quit watching it.

I have only seen a couple of episodes (I don't have cable so caught it when I was traveling for work) but yeah it's hard core liberal slanted...that being said I really enjoyed the two I watched...I can separate my entertainment from my politics.

I equate it to the move The Contender. That movie had some pretty heavy starpower. Jeff Bridges is a great POTUS and Gary Oldman is as solid as ever. The main star is a former Republican who claims the party left her, but she is pretty liberal and preachy in a movie that it liberal and preachy. We see nothing in her political life that indicates that she'd ever be a Republican. If the Contender had shifted more to the middle, then it would've probably gone down as a really good political thriller, but it just had to have a major slant.

The Newsroom had potential, but it chose to go a different route.

Well that covers just about all of them, huh?
