a lot of the established teams will be done in that timeframe. heat will, at the least, not have a good wade. san antonio will be done. knicks will be done. nets will be done. i don't think the clippers survive this offseason.
so you got like indy, chicago, OKC, maybe houston?
1) OKC
2) Chicago
3) Houston (w or w/o Dwight)
4) Cleveland (with LeBron obvious #1)
5) Indy
Also in contention:
Golden State
Minnesota
whatever team LeBron is on
Memphis will still have Gasol and Conely.
possibly Washington, but they are in the same boat as Pels
like I said this only happens if AD is a top 10 player.

Sign Bynum or Pekovic and we go straight to the west finals

This depth chart looks pretty good to me:
PG: 1) Holliday, 2) Vasquez, 3) Rivers (in certain lineups)
SG: 1) Gordon, 2) Rivers (in certain lineups)
SF: 1) Aminu, 2) Anderson (in certain lineups)
PF: 1) Davis, 2) Anderson, 3) Smith
C: 1) Lopez, 2) Smith (in certain lineups)
I think we're a little soft at center and small forward, but free agency could help with that. This is a team that when healthy, should be able to compete.
I think the key is Gordon. He has to produce. Frankly, I would trade him because one more year of injuries and he becomes untradeable. Even if he does better elsewhere, it's not like you can't get compensated.
But if Gordon stays and everyone is more or less healthy, I think 8th seed is very realistic and we could win a playoff game. That would be a significant milestone for this group.

I think Gv can give us quality mins at the pg and sg. I think he is more valuable than people think. He would be an excellent 6th man type guy. I hope we keep him.

I hate the idea of Pekovic on this team. We want to get out and run now, not play half court sets out of the low post. He's a very good player, but he doesn't fit to me.

Personally, I much prefer Holliday and his contract to Rondo's overrated arse

How is Ryno doing for you guys? Before coming to LSU for grad school I was at UCF, so I got to see him develop on the Magic. He made some great strides, winning Most Improved POTY, but he still needed to get stronger and work on his defense.
I remember Ryno had a great shooting night, something like 8-10 for 30 points, and the Magic press was praising him in the post-game press conference. Stan Van saw it differently, and spent a good couple of minutes ripping him a new one for only grabbing 3 rebounds and getting scored on too easily.

I think that group of 4 could very well end up:
JH- 18ppg/9ast
EG- 20ppg/4ast
Ryno- 15ppg/7reb
AD- 20ppg/11reb/3blk
Get a SF with a pulse that can defend and slash and I think we're golden. Of course the question begs at to who that guy will be to get this team over. All the other pieces seem to be there.

Also Gravy, Smith, Lopez, Rivers, Roberts, Miller are not bad complimentary players.
