New Orleans Pelicans: Yes, giving up a guy who might have gone No. 1 and a first-rounder in 2014 is a tall order. But Jrue Holiday is an All-Star player who makes their team instantly better. He combines well with Anthony Davis, and with Ryan Anderson, and with Eric Gordon. He can score, he can pass, he can defend. It works perfectly for them and if they wanted to get ahead of the rebuilding process, this is a great way to go about it.

frick, I am so pumped about next year. Can the season start tomorrow?

I'm so happy I didn't want Noel he reminded me of a better version of thabeet. Getting jrue with Gordon is sick now if we can trade Gordon and Lopez or GV and Lopez for cousins I will love that.

Another CBS guy puts us as one of his winners. LINK

WINNER: Pelicans
The Pelicans acquired one of the NBA's marquee young point guards. Holiday, 23, might help New Orleans finally soothe the loss of Chris Paul from two years ago while giving them another key player to build around.
Holiday averaged 17.7 points and eight assists last season and is beginning a four-year, $44 million contract extension he previously signed with the Sixers.
"He's shocked," said Holiday's agent, Tony Dutt. "He understands it's a business as well. He's OK. It is what it is – something we didn't expect."
The Pelicans might explore trading disgruntled shooting guard Eric Gordon. Point guard Greivis Vasquez also is coming off the best season of his young career.
"Jrue will be great for us," Gordon said. "Very excited."

I said last night in full view of Jester, so you know this dude is going to hold me against the griddle on it: If we spend our cap right and don't have major injuries, get 2/3 Gordon, we go 4th - 6th seed in the West.

That's adding, say, 20 wins. With the dead money coming back to life, this move, internal improvement, and enough money to flip a guard for a SF of quality, we can see a vastly different team.

Also, Monty is now officially on the clock.

Also also, Bill Simmons got told. Hilarious.

20 wins would actually put us right at 6 this year, where GS was. I don't think we get 4th or 5th but I could easily see 6th if we get the best out of all our players and Gordon has no serious setbacks again. 4th and 5th had 56 wins this year, and I don't quite see that in this squad just yet.

Yep, we are going to be an interesting team for sure. I really like the Chris Copeland talk at SF, but if Demps can flip some players and get an even better SF then so be it.

Barring any unforeseen problems, there's no way Monty shouldn't get at least 40 wins with all this talent we have. I love the guy, but I can't stand another 20-30 win season.

I think we'll see some teams take steps back, actually. Denver lost two Thing of the Year, and is about to lose more, I think.

Speaking of Denver, is Iggy not possible anymore with Holiday's salary?

I think the max room is just over $12m, and that is ditching a ton. They'd basically have to trade several players out or Gordon to get him at his likely price.
