I think you are right, Ricky Williams would have to be considered over rated based on what was given up to get him.

quote:wow he was underrated
He averaged about 1400 yards from scrimmage all while missing 3 1/3 games per year. Or about 550 more per game than reggie bush did.

whomever overrates ricky williams should be shot.

Underrated: Drew Brees. A bit of a shock choice, but he saved a franchise.
Maybe one day fans will give him some credit

quote:Yeah I think people believe he was overrated because of what was given up to get him but his career is underrated IMO because of that.
I think a lot of people just felt like since he didn't seem to like New Orleans that much and the pressure seemed to have gotten to him, that he just wasn't very good with the Saints, that's why I feel he was very underrated.

Overrated: Bobby Hebert. There was an ESPN poll a few years ago where fans voted him the Face of the Franchise. A guy who never won a playoff game and whose holdout destroyed the future of the franchise with the Steve Walsh trade.
This is definitely the right answer for most overrated. This dude is beloved by Saints fans, but he is the main reason those great defenses never got to win anything.
Probably have to go with Wayne Martin as most underrated.

Underrated - is a tie for me.
Jerry Fontenot - Smart, hard working, always healthy, dominant. He could of been an even better asset for our offense had it been worth a damn during his tenure as a Saint.
Mike McKenzie.- Most knowledgable saints fans appreciated him, but overall I don't think the fan base as a whole realized how good he really was while in Nola.
Overrated- Garrett Hartley

while I was huge Archie fan as a kid, I sorta hafta agree.
Underrated - Joel Hilgenberg was a really good o-lineman w/o much hoopla.

Most underrated- Reggie Bush. End thread

Most Underrated - Aaron Brooks - LOL at them putting him on the overrated category. Saints fans also have turned this guy into some one-armed ruhtard. Biggest difference from perception and reality is Brooks which makes him the most underrated.
Most Overrated - Marques Colston - He's a guy who people had to fight for him to get respect for so long that they just can't drop it. He's a nice receiver, period. He's not this all-time most underrated player ever that some on here make him out to be. He's lucky he has a HC who uses him as the matchup wildcard he is and a QB who can put the ball anywhere.

I'll go back as far as I can remember.
Underrated: Frank Warren- DE
just seemed like the LB's got most of the glory back then and rightfully so. But looking back at Warren's career, he definitely contributed over a long period of time. He played 13 seasons for the Saints and I think he's like 4th all-time in QB sacks in franchise history. He played DE in a 3-4 defense just to clarify. You don't really see D-lineman have that kind of longevity anymore with just one team but I guess free agency has changed a lot...
Keith Mitchell- LB. The guy was an undrafted free agent who signed with the Saints around 1997 I want to say. He was a quick LB who was pretty decent at rushing from the outside. I think he was kind of a hybrid LB , especially in Ron Zook's defense. He made the Pro Bowl in 2000 with 6.5 sacks. I remember when he had that interception return for a touchdown vs. Arizona. The QB threw a bullet pass out into the flat that Mitchell kind of stabbed out of the air with one hand and bobbled back to himself for the interception then ran it in uncontested to the endzone
Overrated- already been mentioned.

Agreed completely, he's a 2-armed ruhtard.

So because his coaching staff utilizes him to the best of his ability, he sucks, great logic

funniest shite I've read on here in a while.
he was virtually Mr. Irrelevant in the 2006 draft out of Hofstra. He wasn't even "rated" back then except by the Saints apparently. So what he has done for us as our #1 WR is in no way overrated. Its definitely underrated with lack of respect he never gets by all the talking heads that surround the NFL.
Yeah he has a habit of dropping some easy balls some games, but the amount of tough over the middle and clutch 1st downs he catches for Drew is not overrated... its just short of spectacular if you ask me.
Colston

He is tied for all time touchdown record in Saints history (which he will break this year) and he will end up owning every Saints receiving record when he leaves the Saints.
How is that overrated?

"Maybe one day fans will give him some credit"
That's good stuff right there.
In a bit more seriousness, I will say that I think he is a bit underrated nationally, not here in NOLA/LA/Gulf South where he is commonly understood to be in the first degree of consanguinity with Jesus of Nazareth. I cite, for example, him being rated as the #11 player in the league rather than in the top 6 or 7.

I think Mora's offensive coordinator should get a heavy dose of blame for the Saints not doing better. Conservative as hell
