Can't really answer that question. I own turtle beaches on my 360 and still use the blue tooth socom headset on PS3.
I think it is mainly because the 360 online community for shooters is much larger in my experience. And those tend to involve more voice chat.

I guess this is true.
I hate typing in messages on controllers so imagine how upset I was when I bought my PS3 after years of being on Xbox only to realize you couldn't even send a voice message.

I think this is it.
The relative crappy quality of the bluetooth and the voice quality along with the lack of cross game chat really hindered the accessory market for the PS3.

I heard ps4 "cross game chat" is only a 1 on 1 chat kind of like private chat on Xbox, and not like party chat where you can have up to 8 people

Makes very little sense to me, seems like a good way for boosters to jerk each other off

It's a neat feature in my opinion. I never used it much because if I liked a friend enough to chat with him I would normally be in the same game. But still it can be fun.

The first thing I do when I get on Xbox is invite my friends to a party chat or join the one they already have going. It comes in handy a lot and saves muting all the little annoying kids in game chat. Also comes in handy in Online dynasty in ncaa, because everybody in the dynasty can be chatting together at the same time
