Going to a friend's river house in AL this weekend and we're wanting to soak a tight line for some cats. I don't anticipate being able to catch any bream, shad, etc, so will likely be using store bought (not going to be too serious anyway). What's everyone's favorite store bought. The camp is in the bend of a deep river, not sure if regular ol stink bait would work or not

Livers are great.

If you can get hearts they work great and are much tougher than liver.

Wear the same pair of socks for a week along with underwear. Cut into small strips and soak in blood. Stays on the hook better than most other baits

Yep livers...... Cut up some pantyhouse into squares and wrap the livers in them then hook'em. Liver won't come off the hook easily this way.

P.S. Make sure the wife isn't wearing said pantyhose at the time of cutting

I've read that you can cure chicken livers by cuttin them to the size wanted then spred them out on an old cooky sheet and cover them with garlic salt. After that, put them in the sun for at least six hours.

Putting the livers in the sun for several hours supposedly toughens them up. They get crusty on the outside. The garlic salt is nothing to do with the curing; rather, an increased attractant. They say catfish love it.

I've also read about Ivory soap though I have no idea how you make that stay on a hook.

Testimonial: LINK

I was raised poor and catfish was a large part of my family's diet out of necessity when I was little. This is what my dad used back then to feed the family. It works.

I've used it many times since.

ivory soap can be cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes and then drill a hole in it with stick and run the hook through.

I have caught fish on it but not many.

Once I was in a bind and stopped by the Wallmarks and got a bag of 100ct frozen, peeled skrimp tails. Did well.

I have used hearts, livers and even tripe. All have caught catfish. in my opinion, hot dogs and worms work the best i have found. I could be wrong but have caught several on those.

Never used Ivory soap but Who Me swears by it.
