Brian isn't a figure head coach.

Spo is a lot better coach than youre giving him credit for. Yes he has great players on his team, but his offensive system and pressure defensive philosophy has transformed the Heat. Look at the difference between Year 1 and Year 3. This isn't a Riley-style attack. James did nothing like this offense in cleveland.

Moving James to his correct spot on the floor has put James from top 30 player to top 10 player of all time.

Good move. Dude should have had a job a long time ago.

I dont understand this. why should he have gotten a job a long time ago? obviously he did not impress the people interviewing him. so just because hes been an assistant for awhile he "deserves" a job. just doesnt make sense to me

With that being said, good for him I hope he does well. the above has nothing to do with him just the who deserves it should have happened a long time ago thing

They also added Birdman, Battier, Lewis, Allen in that span. 3 years is also time to gel.

time to gel = found a system that worked and they even added more players into their rotation, as you said.

Yeah I don't get the "bout time" thing either. He's been coaching basketball for 8 years and it's "about time" he landed an NBA coaching gig. I'd say he's ahead of schedule.

Losing Gallo was a HUGE part of why the Nuggets did not get past the 1st round. You can't blame that on Karl.

Well, he should've gotten the Lakers' job last year. This isn't a hindsight type of situation either, because I think most NBA fans thought D'Antoni would be an awkward fit in L.A. Shaw has a great relationship with Kobe, the Buss family, Phil and would have implemented an offense that caters to his lineup and not his own individual philosophy. He was also passed up for Mike Dunlap in Charlotte, who was fired after one abysmal season. Dunlap coached a lot of college ball, but only three NBA seasons as an assistant before getting the HC job.

I don't think he was overdue for a gig or anything, but I think he was a better candidate than both D'Antoni and Dunlap.

ETA: Although there will be expectations in Denver following Karl, this is a great situation for him.

What's the excuse for losing in the first round 8 times in 9 years?

I'll wait.

The apple fell far from the tree regarding the Buss family, so Johnny and Jim Jr. aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. In fact, Jerry Sr. had a PhD in Chemistry, while Jerry Jr. didn't even finish undergrad. I'd say Jeanie is probably the most competent of the trio.

You're going to say every year was exactly the same? Some years it was coaching, some it was player effort (Melo), some they just didn't have a good enough roster to break through. Gallo was one of the centerpieces of that unselfish team this year. You can't say losing him wasn't a major impact on them.

Poor wording on my part, I didn't meant that as on years ago. But him being a top assistant for Phil, and for the Pacers now, you think he could have gotten a head coaching gig before some of these other guys over the last two years.
