"In Ryan's nine seasons as a defensive coordinator, his offenses have given him a lead of at least eight points or more in 37 games. In those 37 games, his teams have won 27 of them."

Interesting considering he's coming to the team with the best offense in football.

I'd benjntetsted to see Williams stats in this scenario. I bet their similar considering they both have attack, blitz heavy defenses. They work best when the opposing offense is in pass only mode trying to catch up.

We were 36-12 with Williams here

Yea I bet GW has similar numbers in that statistic. The real question is, when we're up by 8 or less points with 2 minutes to go and the other team has the ball, will their offense rip through Ryan's blitz heavy defense, or will we shut them down?

That has been the most frustrating part of our defenses since 2010. Our defense against the 2 minute offense has pissed me off so many times. We need to fix that.

The 58 minute offense has killed us too.

Well yea that too

But what worries me about Rob Ryan's blitz happy defense is how it will hold up in a two minute offense where the teams will be taking shots down field. That's where GW's defense killed us the most. And I'm worried Ryan's defense will have the same problem.

And how does this measure against the league average?

Yes, this stat doesn't seem like it would be too far out of the normal trend of probability. 8 points is a lot, that's potentially two scores (or a very difficult 1 score).

This stat just seems a bit out of context without supporting data such as team average and past averages.

Although i said that earlier, I don't know that he's as "just blitz them out of their mind" as GW was. I see Ryan more as a Lebeau type. He brings pressure from all different places, but that doesn't mean he's sending the house every snap. I don't have any evidence to back that up, so I could be wrong. But thats just IMO

That's what I wasn't sure about. How carless he is with his blitzes. GW was very careless especially in his last year. I'm fine with a Blitz happy defense if it is used in the right way. If he's creative with his blitzes like you say, I think we'll be fine.

Not sure how blowing 27% of the 8 point leads he was given is a good thing
