How good was he? I read his story earlier, and then I watched a few hi-lights. His game was very similar to Jordan, and the accolades were even better. He looked to be crazy athletic, had a great shot, and seemed to be a very smart player. Some of his dunks were insane. He had to bend his head to the side in one hi-light to block a shot. The rim was almost at his shoulder.

I remember him a little bit, but I was a kid. Can't really say I specifically remember anything in particular that hasn't been reinforced by the highlights.

Bias was an absolute beast. 6'8, ripped, tremendous leaping ability and extremely athletic. Most NBA scouts conceded he was the best player in the 1986 draft even though he went no 2. Brad Daugherty (UNC) went #1 overall because Cleveland had already taken PF Keith Lee #11 overall the previous year and it was hard to pass on a franchise center. But Bias was the 2-time ACC Player of the Year over Daugherty.

Absolute stud. Would have been the next superstar. He was fantastic at Maryland and everyone thought he was a cant miss

I saw him on TV many times and in person once. He was a great talent. Compared favorably to KG IMO.Mostly a faceup player with great explosion and good midrange game.

I'll sort of ruin the thread by saying he reminded me of someone half way between Jordan and LeBron-- not that he'd have been all of that, but that his game was that of a bigger slasher, who didn't have quite the polish of Jordan. He wouldn't muscle guys like LeBron does now, but he had NBA superstar written all over his game.

A different comparison to a kid who would have been his contemporary, would be to say that he would have been Scottie Pippen with less defense but a far better offensive game. As a Celtics fan, even close to 30 years later, it leaves a sick feeling in the pit of my gut to just think back to what should have been.

Imagine the Celtics with Bias in that frontcourt rotation with Bird and McHale.
