A comment in another thread reminded me about NBC's contract to start showing EPL matches. Is this effective for this next season? I'm also wondering if you guys know how many matches a week they plan on showing, what channels, will espn still broadcast games and will fox soccer still broadcast epl games? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Also, any word on who the commentators might be pre-game and in-game? Thanks.

Yeah it's this season. They will show all games live via some platform I believe (whether it's one of their channels or online). ESPN still has rights to one game per week I think. Fox Soccer is being rebranded to Fox Sports 1 and will show Champions League games but no Premiere League games.

Fox it out completely. Not sure about ESPN. Every match will either be on live tv or live stream online.

found this:

Pretty sure ESPN is out. Seems like I remember them saying Ian Darke was only doing USMNT for them now.

Oh shite. I was just hoping that NBC would match the amount of games I already have access to. It looks like they will destroy the other networks in terms of programming. I'm really excited now. I also really like arlo white.

So I guess this means Arlo White won't be doing MLS games any more?

ETA: at least during the PL season I guess

Pretty good info on what to expect from NBC's epl coverage.

Also, I read that there WILL NOT be a sports ticker at the bottom of the screen during matches. I love that decision. One of the things I hate about espn.

What? I wasn't consulted on this.

Really? It doesn't bother me. I don't even understand how it could bother someone but to each his own, I guess.

For me, apart from it being completely unnecessary and distracting, I've been burned by accidentally glancing down at the score of a game that I was recording.

Oh OK. I could see how that would be pretty annoying.

Me too. I despise the bottom line! I've gone so far as to put a piece of blue tape over it when I've recorded a couple of matches.
