What a crapo list sans one

President Bush(1) actually called skip at his hotel room and asked that LSU consider RC

Petrino turned skip and everyone else in the search off with his pissy attitude

Saban was pushing nutt. Obviously that fricker knew he'd end up back in the sec IMO

Williams was a courtesy only. Zero shot.

Miles is a two time sec champion an a Bcs champ as well

Ferentz was never interviewed. Feelers put out, he had no interest in a job that had/has expectations

Skip clearly hired the right guy

Looks like Miles is the only one on the list with NFL coaching experience. Let's give him a shot.

I think the irony is that if we get any one of those BUT Miles, Saban might be our coach right now.

You didn't mention that in that same sideline report they said Petrino and Nutt "bowed out" and Les Miles was by and large the number one candidate.

That is correct. LSU moved on after Petrino met with the "committee". His own personailty booted him.

[quote]it was pretty bleak because saban left us at a terrible time a month or so earlier and LSU would have had Spurrier[/quote

Spurrier would have been a disaster here.

but, but, but, .... same odds that saban choses al over lsu (b/c of the $!)

WHY would saban's demeanor change and he steps back to lsu?

saban nuthuggers got left at the altar and you still love him and would want him back? how long b/4 he cheated and lied again?

haters gotta hate and liars gotta lie and cheaters gotta cheat and victims gotta revictimize (just made that word up!)

He was too chickenshit to do it in Baton Rouge. He had to wait for the plane to land.

Doing a solid for Jimmy Sexton. He got a raise out of it.

Since we're playing Hypotheticals: who would you have preferred in 1987--Steve Spurrier, Mike Shanahan, Mack Brown, or Mike Archer?

One of the old rumors was that Petrino basically told Skip that if the right NFL job came along he'd take it - didn't matter how long he was at LSU. Then he said something "offensive" to Skip and the interview ended right there.

1) They have the same agent.
2) Saban said at the time that Nutt's teams were always the best prepared teams they played.
3) It was a recommendation based on a request from Skip. If Saban really wanted to screw LSU he could have done a lot better than Houston Nutt....like recommend his old pal Bobby Williams.

One rumor about Tubs that has made the rounds over the years is that either during the Miles search or the Miles to Michigan part 1 deal (I can't remember which one) Tubs contacted LSU - as a way to get back at Auburn for the Petrino interview in 03. After initially being receptive to the idea, someone at LSU came to their senses and made it known to Tubs that he will never, under any circumstances, be the head coach at LSU.

Thought crossed my mind. Then wondered why someone was bumping a 9 yr. old thread. Then thought, wait, did TR even exist then? Head scratcher all around.

The rant very much existed and was in full meltdown mode. Every thread was about someone or other who knew Saban saying he would stay vs he's gone. It was pretty ridiculous the amount of churn Saban caused.
